Interesting to note that the two guys going great for GCS today were well covered last week, Anderson and Witts.
Great jobs by JJ and Grundy and McLean.

I think Bedders used to type in these?
I like the 1 on the leftI think Bedders used to type in these?
Had Brisbane thrown in a draft ban the Crows might have reconsidered their offerI went back over the Tippett saga when he left the Crows. Hindsight is 20/20 but the craziest part is Brisbane had offered 2x first round picks when Tippett had 1 yr left on his contract yet the Crows rejected it!
Trying to get up there for the Cats game , been off work with my knees so mightn't be able to afford itI'm not sure if anyone noticed but in Horses comments about the SCG crowds he said the next 2 home games are also heading towards sell outs.
If you don't have your tickets now for the Carlton & Cats games then I strongly suggest you get thee hence and don't leave it to the last minute.
If we get another 2x40k crowds the club are going to be ecstatic.
Hope you do Bedford. Should be a cracker!Trying to get up there for the Cats game , been off work with my knees so mightn't be able to afford it

Thank you for that Hairy, made me cry. What a wonderful person to not only overcome his tumultuous childhood, but to become the amazing man he grew into.Interesting read on Sonny Morey, the Sir Doug Nicholls Honouree for 2024;
Fall and rise: The incredible story of SA footy great Sonny Morey
Fate dealt Sonny Morey a tough hand but the Central District great defied his luck to build a storied life around footballwww.afl.com.au
Removed from his family as a young boy, did not speak English and moved from hostel to hostel, never again seeing his mother.
Eventually ended up becoming a top line player at Central District (over 200 games (first to reach that milestone for CD), B&F winner and Magarey Medal runner-up in 1972) and met his future wife, by taking a speccy over her (cue didn't everyone meet their missus that way?)
A 3 degrees of separation story in that Sonny mentored Michael O'Loughlin's uncle Wilbur Wilson, who played at Central District, as later did Micky O himself.

Probably better to reply to this hereFine to disagree, I believe the 2014 team was the best Swans team I've ever seen (up till now, this team is better in my opinion) and the GF was heartbreaking and definitely not a reflection of how good we were, my point was that you can't compare the two and we should take history out of it. Back in that era, we didn't play the high possession and precise kicking game that we are playing this year.
After rd 9 in 2014 we were 6-3 with a percentage of 124.9.
What your saying makes complete sense, it was one hell of a footy team. I am just loving the ball movement and precision of this current team, as I remember watching Hawthorn in their threepeat years and being sooooo jealous of their ball movement and now that it's us that is moving it so well, I'm a bit enamoured with it.Probably better to reply to this here
I honestly think the 2014 Swans have the 2024 Swans beat when it comes to contested ball, forwards and backline. Comparing how they would line up:
FB: Smith - Richards - Malceski
FF: Papley - McDonald - Hayward
HB: Rohan - Grundy - Rampe
HF: Jordon - Amartey - Adams
C: Jack - Kennedy - McGlyyn
C: Gulden - Warner - McInerney
HF: Hannerbery - Franklin - Cunningham
HB: Florrent - Melican - Blakey
FF: Goodes - Tippett - Reid
FB: Cunningham - McCartin - Rampe
Foll: Pyke - Parker - McVeigh
Foll: Grundy - Heeney - Rowbottom
INT: Shaw - Jetta - Lloyd - Bird
INT: Roberts - Lloyd - McLean - Wicks
That midfield is bigger and stronger with players like Parker in career best form. The forward line stretches us and has a Coleman medal year Franklin playing on McCartin. Richards, Grundy and Smith absolutely blanket McDonald, Amartey/McLean and Papley.
That said, what the 2024 side has over the 2014 side are 2 things: leg speed and superior kicking. We would need to break away from them at stoppage (Grundy beating Pyke would go a long way to helping) and use our uncontested mark game to get it forward. The only way I see the 2024s beating the 2014s would be if the 2014s kick it on Franklin's head all game allowing McCartin to use his superior contested marking over Franklin, the 2024s to cut them up with footskills on turnover and for Grundy to win the ruck battle so the 2024 mids can burst from stoppage.
The best way to beat the 2014 and by extension 2016 Swans was to match them at the contested stuff and beat them with footskills. GWS and Hawthorn were the best at that in that time. If Heeney and Rowbottom in particular had very big contested games, the 2024s could pinch it.What your saying makes complete sense, it was one hell of a footy team.
