why wait?197. If Heeney gets AA Captain, they should also make him Swans captain
Yep, agree. Felt very weird at the start of the game when ANZAC day was 3 days in arrears. No need for it.Anzac Day should be commemorated on the 25th of April, and only on the 25th of April. There is no need for every match that week to have an Anzac feature pre-game.
What's more, unless the AFL are donating 30-50% of the profits from the game, and/or playing the game at dusk or dawn, they shouldn't be commemorating or celebrating it all!Anzac Day should be commemorated on the 25th of April, and only on the 25th of April. There is no need for every match that week to have an Anzac feature pre-game.
A very late post, but I quite enjoy it at the ground, because I bug the Mrs by making up ridiculous, absurd lyrics to it every time we go to a game. Don't like it for any other reason bar that haha.Sweet Caroline is a great hook surrounded by a s**t song.
Until you realise it's the Opera House, not feathersDon't know if this is unpopular, but I think we wear the "red V" jumpers way too much.
They're fine as a novelty, to be worn 1-3 times a year, but the "swan feathers" jumper is absolutely perfect and should be the only primary uniform.
I agree, but also I don't really care it stays the same. I do get that it has ties to our heritage, and is appreciated by Victorian fans particularly (since it's used for Vic games) and those who've been around longerDon't know if this is unpopular, but I think we wear the "red V" jumpers way too much.

I think the idea is that it's both.Until you realise it's the Opera House, not feathers
Isn't it both? Designed as the sails of the opera house, but commonly known as the feathers?Until you realise it's the Opera House, not feathers
Wow! I don't know that it's unpopular, but it's pretty unrealistic! That it’s better to call it as we see it than downplay where we’re at due to superstition.
We are so far ahead of the pack, that it’s safe to say that if you’ve bet on the swans, it’s time to get in the queue.
2024’s by a landslide, we all know it.
We’re currently 3/1 to win the flag.Wow! I don't know that it's unpopular, but it's pretty unrealistic!
I'd agree that currently we're the best team in the comp! 100%
Will we still be so in 11 matches time? Who knows
Will we best the best team in the final series? Who knows
How many teams have had brilliant starts, and then have injuries cruel their pitch? How many teams have had poor starts and then seemed to 'click' at the half-way point and come home on a wet sail? A final series is a whole different ballgame than the H&A...
So, yes we're playing extremely well, and having some luck with injury; yes, we're a really good shot at being minor premiers; and yes, if our current form holds, and we continue to have a little bit of luck, we're looking good for a flag!
But, stating we'll win it from here is just as bad as all those people saying if we lose it from here we're pathetic! Both are not realistic...
My personal view:Every year the complaints are that the standard of umpiring is the worst it has ever been. It is trotted out every. single. year.
I propose that the worst year of umpiring up until that year was the very first year there was a competition. From then on, it has been a similar standard every year - good or bad generally depends on whether your team wins or loses. Umpires make mistakes and you get good and bad umpires, but the standard is always similar.
Unless we get reamed tonight, of course.
2018 Jake Lloyd would have done Naicos things if he played in the midfield.
There's nothing wrong with being enthusiastic and optimistic - and if there's one thing we can all say about JHWF, it's that!Wow! I don't know that it's unpopular, but it's pretty unrealistic!

Personally I have a foot in both camps. At this moment in time, we are streets ahead of every other team and one look at the ladder backs that up. Yes, things could very well fall apart at the seams next weekend, no one can see the future, but taking it at this moment in time, we have every right to feel excited at what this season could hold.
I agree with your first point and your last. Being at the G makes it far more special than it would be at other grounds. I can't agree with your point about it not being an advantage. History shows, and IMO will continue to show that interstate sides struggle to beat Victorian sides there.Feel like i'm the only one here that is happy with the GF always being at the MCG. In fact it should be forever. The spectacle is second to none, and i also think 'home ground advantage' is a non-factor on that occasion. The Covid GF's just didn't feel the same, looked weird. Although the Optus stadium one wasn't too bad because it kinds resembles the G.
Win your way into the granny and the event takes place at the best stadium in the country. There's a patch of grass and a set of goals on either end, how the stands around the outside of it make a difference to the players is as nonsensical as the perceived disadvantage of a one hour flight. It takes longer to drive the G from some of the inner Melbourne suburbs. May the best team on the day win.
The talk of a multiple GF series is also vomit inducing.
