NFNL div 2 2025

Really interested (and of course pretty excited) about the makeup of Div2.

Each year, or at least most years, the team coming up is automatically regarded as a relegation contender. In our former life in the VAFA, the top teams of the lower division would always match up pretty well with the bottom teams of the higher division, and a double jump wasn't uncommon. In the NFNL, it seems like the bottom of Div2 (for instance) are considered much superior to the teams coming up. Is the disparity really that big, and is there a reason why there's not much crossover?

I'm not suggesting the OPs will coming up and be dominant, competitive or otherwise, because I genuinely don't know, but the difference between the two leagues is interesting. One thing i am looking forward to is some nearby rivalries like Watsy, Diamo, Lower and Thomastown for instance

Every side goes different Laurimar is now D3 and South Morang D1. Age profile, retention, recruitment etc all
Play a part.

Diamond Creek have announced Jesse Thompson from Mont, decent signing.
Word is that both the Macpherson brothers will also align with the Creek as their local, both with North VFL for this season.
They will be very hard to beat if they can get them come finals time.

From memory was in Watsonia reserves couple years back, when they were struggling in Div 2.

Don’t think he is up to the standard.
I saw Parade v Eltham in a classic close tough contest and parade too quick, too slick, think they will beat the likes of Watsonia, Panton Hill Thommo etc.

Turtles in Div 3
Thomastown just missed finals in Div 2

Turtles just snuck into finals on percentage in div 3

EC best them by 21 points in round 18.

How does OP having this classic tough close hit out with a side that just made finals in the div below mean they’ll cruise through the division above?

thommo actually made the finals in div 2

Went down and had a look at Watsy training a few days ago, dare i say they were absolutely training the house down. I personally wouldn’t want to play against them in the first few rounds, but then again… if I played anyone in my current state i’d probably tear my old hamstring 😂😂😂

don't forget south morang bounce up and down a div before this run to div 1, takes a while to get both the off field and on field to a div 1 standard of the bigger well run clubs
