Weitering is a top 3 defender in the league and quick enough to go with Gunston.

Gov will go to Lewis.

We should be trying to use our small and make Saad and Williams accountable.

Saad is vulnerable one out .
McGovern isn't big enough. That would be like playing Sicily on McKay. Lewis gets a run and jump at it good luck trying to spoil it because of his size. They will go with Weitering as they will identify Mitch as the biggest aerial threat to them.

Lewis will dominate Gov then.

Moore/Breust will probably do well against Saad and Williams who i don't rate defensively. Plowman probably to Breust tho.

Lewis will slaughter McGovern.

He'll get Weitering. McGovern will try to float as the loose interceptor.

They dont have match ups for Gunner or Breust, or Chad if he gets up. They've got Plowman. Good luck.

Gov will go to Big Boy
Weitering will go to Lewis
Plowman will get first go at Gunner

I think this is the game where if we are to win, our smalls need to get off the chain.
We need to exploit Saad and Williams.

Gunner could also get off the chain.

Lewis just needs to create strong contests with Weitering, maybe snag a couple.

Whilst you never want to mess with a winning formula, you can’t fit Day, Impey and Bramble into an already well stacked up defence. Two of them surly have to play in the midfield?
Day and Bramble on each wing impy hff pushing up high and running back.

Isolating Oscar McDonald

Weiterings direct opponent has a selfless role to play.

I'd just make gunston the target and back him to beat weitering one out. Cant zone off if gunston keeps getting it.

I remember once Nick Reiwoltd kicked 10 on Rance in a similar way. Make the 3rd man up defend an opponent and also contest every ball they do.

Some of my favourite games are when the "defensive forward" destroys their opponent.

Muston kicking 3 on fletcher, Lewis kicking 5 on shaw and getting so far in his head he turned over 90% of his touches.

Frosty is in career best form but this week will be some tough matchups
Frost is a good enough defender to stop anyone. As long as he doesn't get too much of the ball we'll be okay. The way we played Port probably suits Frost ball though, just run and kick long to get over the back.

I like the idea of Howe in for Wingard. Gets the run with role on Cripps.

Day only comes in for Finn if fit.
I’m not sure that Sam does run with roles.

I hope we can nullify their midfield strength through the ruck battle.
Constantly rotating rucks through Pittonet and trying to get the Reeves/TDK matchup in the ruck as often as possible to give us some silver service.

I feel big body strength is something we struggled with last week and guys like Cripps/Kennedy may get away from us when they get rotated through some of our smaller mids in Worpel/Mitchell.
Otherwise keen as for this one!

Cripps and Walsh are the worry for me in this march.

Walsh was BOG last time we played them (he looked a class above that day) and Cripps is just so much bigger and stronger than any of our midfielders (apart from Nash who is more of an old school utility) that he could run riot.

Sam has got to put the acid on JOM, Mitchell and Worps that they need to lift if we are to win cause I think we are superior everywhere else in the ground.

Just a replacement these days, Who else played down back?
How did Jeka and Kosi look?

Callow was the standout forward. Leads hard at the ball carrier and jumps hard into packs and knows how to kick a football. He can really punch the ball low and hard if needed.

Jeka threatened a few times but will be better for the run. Missed a chance from 40 to ice the game for us.

Kosi spent a lot of time pinch hitting forward/ ruck throughout the day but didn’t have a great game .

Cripps hasn’t really gotten a hold of our midfield before. But usually we have had shiels to disrupt him. I’m not afraid of him as I think we can crowd his space and cover his outlets with the players we have.

As much as I like Finn, I think this makes sense and Howe big body will be useful. Did Howe played for Boxhill this week and if so how did he go?
Top five for Box Hill today.

Had a quick browse of the Carlton thread for this match. Gee the arrogance set in quickly. No looking forward to a tight contest over there.

Walsh and Cripps a concern. But I think Hewett, Cerra and Kennedy also being in great form is the worry. Their midfield is humming at the moment that many big bodies being thrown at us will test our midfield.

Especially as they have looked dangerous when drifting forward. Big test for our midfield that has been found wanting for the most part.

I think you’re right. If he did do it, I’d be keen to see Jai and Nash each get a half shadowing Cripps. Great learning experience.
Why would we want Cripps to learn anything though? I think it should be up to Carlton's coaching staff to teach him stuff, not our midfielders.
