Will the AFL look to move the match of the round to a prime time slot?

Should swap us for Melbourne v Scum game on Friday night šŸ˜

Sic to Curnow
Frost to MacKay
DGB to De Koening or resting ruck.

CJ and Scrim 3rd up all day.
We have enough pressure from midfield I would back in our team defence under the high ball.

Hard pass on Hartigan. Purely back-up this year
Yep those are the matchups I feel comfortable with.

Nash v Cripps?

Now that's a big ask. I doubt we can do that consistently all game. I think our drive has to come from our backline.
Drive from the backline and quick movement to take advantage of the number of defenders they have who are allergic to defending (Williams, Saad, Docherty). Have to go close to breaking even though in the midfield as if Walsh, Cerra, Cripps get clean breaks McKay will have a field day one out.

Reckon Carlton will be spending all week on how to stop our transition footy (ie do the opppsote of what port did). I donā€™t think weā€™ll have it so easy with paddocks for our forwards.

Will also be our first opponent with two decent tall forwards (Roos had one and port had none) plus kpd to play on Lewis (Roos lost McKay and port was undersized).

Port easily beat us in stoppages - reckon if Carlton do weā€™ll have more problems.

Interesting game coming up. Both teams will be full of confidence.

They'll play Sylvania on cj like they did last year. Which will mean we'll have to readjust.

Move CJ forward!

Oh right, that must just for concussions? Idk.

I remember the messaging was that they'd have to sit out for 12 days, but just searched it and it states "should a subbed-out player recover from an injury other than concussion before the next match, he may be granted to play provided his return is ticked off by the AFL Medical Officer."

So really you can be a funny bugger with the sub rule and have no ramifications.
Subbing out Wingard who'd kicked 2 goals from almost as many touches due to hamstring tightness (of which he has an extensive soft tissue injury history) for Philips isn't really playing funny buggers.

Subbing out a lumbering tall for a runner if we were getting killed by the oppositions running power would be playing funny buggers.

If Wingard is fine he'll be able to return next week with no issue.

Don't think 6 possies is excellent, thought Lynch might offer more around the ground
There's 2 types of ruckman.
The ones who get possessions, and the ones who make the opponent panic

Occasionally you get a mac gawn who does both.

Think of Reeves as the ruck version of a wingman who runs the lines all day. Makes the opposition accountable, which in turn helps the side

Tough matchup against the flag favourites (#carltonsupporterlogic)

Would be funny if we smash em but expecting a good game. Their big forwards might give us trouble but our forward line is no slouch either.

When Phillips comes on he picks up the pace of the game straight away. Some players take five to ten minutes to get going.

Well done to Tommy. Not helping himself if he hates being sub.

Should call him The Microwave then (80/90s NBA reference to Vinnie Johnson)

Whoā€™d have picked this to be a top of the table clash a fortnight ago?

Iā€™m loving how the Blues are going about it this year as well so this is a very exciting game.

If Wingard misses, Day comes in. Iā€™d also swap Finn and Phillips around as starter/sub. If Wingard is fine, Day in for Finn and let Phillips have the full game at Box Hill. If Impeyā€™s fit, give him 1 game at Box Hill.

34 to 25 hitouts against a top notch ruckman in his prime is a hell of an effort. I'll take that over a couple of additional possies around the ground any day.

Go in as underdogs again, McKay and Curnow's size will cause us grief. But if we can somehow break even in midfield and limit supply I think we can also test the Blues the other way. Interested and excited to see how it pans out.

Quick question, did I say we played funny buggers?

Isolating Oscar McDonald could be front and centre of Mitchell's white board.

Weiterings direct opponent has a selfless role to play.

Our forwards and backs have been great but are yet to play against many, if any, A graders. Another step up in opposition, will we lift again?

Will Oscar play? I know he was subbed out Thursday night

Our midfield going to be right in the firing line after two not so strong performances. They need to at least limit the speed of ball coming in to give our defence a chance.

Do that and we can beat them on the turnover like we did port. I think blues defence is shaky enough that we can kick a score to win if we get the ball down there.

Day for Wings (due to being subbed) would be my only change. I know Finn didnā€™t touch the ball much but his running makes it so much easier for our other players. His selfless running opens up the ground and letā€™s him get back to cover defensively.

Itā€™s fairly simple. High scoring, carlton win

Low scoring, hawks win
I was at the Hawks v Blues game at the MCG last year and we made the game a slow, ultra defensive, low scoring slogfest and we still lost comfortably (my eyes have yet to fully recover from the horror)

I'd much rather we continue our current attacking gameplan and go for the win.

If we lose, so be it. At least it will still be entertaining to watch.
