'Elite' Hawk delivers his own Easter gift…

When Moore was ranked as an elite general forward by Champion Data on the eve of the season, entering the same bracket as Toby Greene, Isaac Heeney, Robbie Gray, Luke Breust and Liam Ryan, he didn’t escape the attention of Port Adelaide great Kane Cornes and those inside the four walls of the football club.

"The boys actually gave me a bit of shit because Kane Cornes said 'Who is Dylan Moore? He is not elite'. The boys gave me a bit of shit about that.

"It did motivate me a little bit to prove people wrong. I don’t know if I'm in that elite category – there are still a lot of very good small forwards out there – but I guess it put a chip on my shoulder a little bit to prove some people wrong."

Like Nash he was played out of position as a pressure forward which didn't suit his main AFL attributes. I am just surprised that it took so long for the magnets to get thrown around a bit tbh

For anyone that thought tanking the last game against GC at the end of 2020 was an option I think it is important to spare a thought for players like Dylan Moore who was playing for his career even up until that game. At that point of the season we as fans don’t seem to look at things like this because we’re just thinking about a high draft pick. We would be so much worse off if McKenzie and Clarko decided to cut him but even at VFL level you could just see the kid had something about him that screamed star.

Agreed, I think it is tough for new players when you have many senior players already entrenched in their positions. So happy Moorey was able to make the most of the opportunity.

Is starting to enter into the Hardwick territory of being so consistent you just expect it, and honestly that is one of the biggest compliments you can get. Still so young to

Both former Eastern Ranges boys too.

Just like the men's coach.

Kane: “Dylan Moore elite? Who even is he?

Dylan Moore: “hold my beer”.

Does Moorey take requests? He is smashing it atm, but I was wondering if he could kick a second half goal this week? Just one. Or four. Or six. Thanking in advance...
Wait until he plays *......😉

Best thing is Cornes has come out and said he is elite. He is actually fine with being proven wrong.
As annoying as he is and I’ve been guilty of taking his bait many a time too but he most definitely plays us all. It’s not saying much but he’s been better as a post football s**t starter than he was as a footballer.

Yeah he absolutely throws the bait and knows what he is doing, but I have found that when he is proven wrong he owns up to it so I actually don't mind him tbh.

I think they were meaning a similar aged partner in crime, but i could be wrong.

Tyler Brockman and Dylan Moore would carve things up!
Long and Butler are other potential partners. However, I reckon that Breust and Wingard have at least another two seasons in them so there is no urgent need to add anyone to the list while we wait to see if one or more of Brockman, Long and Butler make the grade.

Someone mentioned on the commentary that he hasn't kicked a second half goal this year which is a weird stat since he does run out games pretty well.
Kicked a goal in the first quarter of our last 4 games. Often the first Hawthorn goal.

I reckon Butler will provide great service.

I don't rate Butler, but I hope he proves me wrong. He hasn't had a fair chance yet at Box Hill as he and Seamus Mitchell have been playing in a forward line consisting of 4 Key Forwards (Kosi, Jeka, Callow, Serong) and medium forward Fergus Greene. Hopefully, this week he starts showing signs of his talent.

You don’t rate Butler based on what? A limited pre season and two Box Hill games?

I thought we should have picked up Jesse Motlop. I guess though Butler hasn't had a real chance at being a proper small forward. He was being played as a forward/mid in the NAB League which I don't believe he is. I hope he starts finding his feet this week for Box Hill.

I cant stand that this behaviour is always excused. His shtick is to try and wind people up, make them annoyed.

I dont respect him. This sort of commentary provides nothing positive and sums up our modern world where being nasty and mean to get a reaction is more important than being right.

Well done for him for admitting he was wrong I guess, he seems to do that far more than any other pundit wish days it all. The only service he provides is satisfaction to chippy supporters who get a kick out of other supporters being pissed off.

I tune out when he bobs up, can't be bothered with it.
