Player Watch Pick #16 (2016) - Todd Marshall

Great game, now needs to start bridging the gap between his best and his worst. More consistency. Clearly our best forward this year though

He seems to have added a bit to his game in the last month. He wasn't amazing last week, but still competed well which is all alot of us were asking for. Has also upped the tackles and seems to have a bit more campaigner about him. I think he has been a bit freed up as well the last 1.5 games. I really like SPP in the ruck if we don't play a 2nd. Rozee/Farrell/ and Mitch leading up the ground has brought him into the game more.

There's no more smug group on BigFooty than the Hot Toddy 🔥 brigade after a good performance from this man.

It's like if you had a couple of dozen TeeKray's in the Dulmial Gun thread after he kept one of the King brothers goalless again.

His second efforts were really strong today. They were immediate.

Too often in the past I reckon after a play, eg a marking contest, there has been a moment where he sits back before impacting the contest again. Today on the times where he dropped it he was instantly in to the next action.

That kick from the air under pressure was really good signs too. Didnt come off but the thought process and attempt showed a real confidence.

good onya toddy. i have always backed this bloke because he has skills and vision as good as any kpf.
when he has the ball he hurts the oppo, if he has time he kills them.
leading up to the ball, he can pick it up off his shoelaces and dish it to a player running on goal almost as well as tredders. or spin around on an arc and hit a target by foot.
i think people need to give younger players more time to develop

If the other half of the site had spent the last three years telling you that Trent McKenzie was a soft useless spud, you'd probably be pretty smug when he has a good game too.

Also after seeing a "champ" in here Im getting real worried we might see a "buddy", "boss" or even the dreaded "big guy".
Don't worry sport, I'm sure it'll be okay.

As opposed to your vicious and unrelenting attacks on anyone and everyone on Bigfooty that disagrees with you. Not only are you a w***er, you use “champ” to make yourself feel powerful . You are weak as piss.

Fwiw you won’t find any evidence of “unrelenting and vicious” attacks by me on Marshall, so you are also a shameless liar.
Im a covid locked down man at the moment

Firstly, if the "play todd marsh" thread wasnt locked and you could quote from there. This list would be even more magnified, absolute shit takes, In terms of quantity and quality.

I also ignored 90% of the posts in gameday threads cause theyre toxic by nature, but enjoy what a 10 minute search found
Marshall is mentally and physically weak. The tease needs to end.

Dixon is a pretender too.

We look weak as piss!

Sleeps with the lights on. Harsh but the sample size is ever increasing.

Amon spent a lot of time in the SANFL. Marshall is not only physically weak but he is mentally weak. He’s like Westhoff but cannot mark or contest. Why do we need to carry this sort of player? He’s a true reflection of the coach you want so desperately to be sacked.

I struggle to understand how you struggle to see that Marshall’s inability to finish off the work of our midfield is a bigger issue than the midfield itself. He drops so many marks, is physically weak, can’t hold a tackle and misses crucial shots for goal at crucial times.... he’s as much Groundhog Day as Ken.

This culture of allowing weak efforts has been evident through the continued selection of Marshall.

If the sink was Marshall please throw it
This was trading for Callum coleman Jones
Harsh on Stewart

Marshall must be on the trade table
This a doozy D Stewart is better than Marshall
They really aren’t all shit. Several have AFL attributes. I’m not sure what Marshall’s are.

Marshall has no KPF credentials. Luko has less than none?

Definitely an upgrade on Marshall, would spell the end of his career at Port IMO.

Well done Todd.

I think that part of the reason why he and Finlayson did so well tonight was the forward entry system. Far less bombing it in and a much more open forward line.

But, it also needs to be said that Todd's first efforts were his best efforts.

Will be watching with interest to see the forward system when Charlie returns.

Well done to Todd. Anyone who couldn't see he had some serious talent really have no feel for the game. Some players do take longer to perform at a higher level consistently. To relentlessly go after a player like a couple have in this thread is pathetic and weak. We know who Todd is but who are you?

That’s some fine research.

Vicious - no
Unrelenting - probably

I really hope the trajectory is up from here for Marshall, and I want the tat on my butt.

Do you relentlessly pursue the sacking of Ken? The double standards of people like Shizenhaus are glaringly evident.

No I can just admit when someone plays a quality game.

The irony with Frampton was Ford Fairlane and I were discussing he would of been a useful inclusion a
Few years back at a game of ours in Ballarat, but Kenny just refused to play him.

As we’ve seen with Hayes ‘having’ to play and Rozee getting more time in the middle, how things change when you get to see the possibilities.

It's a small sample size with Frampton as a defender but jeezus two weeks straight racking 20 plus in an effective defence, he keeps that up he's a bigger loss than Googal Howard ever was.

He’s played two good games this season out of 6 - one against a Billy Frampton led Crows defence and another against Alex Witherden and the wooden spoon Eagles.

I liked his game today but I’m not going to get carried away. History suggests he can’t perform against good opposition.
Imagine still trying to hold your position when the grounds fallen away from underneath you like a cartoon coyote who believes gravity doesn’t work if you don’t look down

Firstly, the crows fielded Frampton doedee and butts against our 2 key forwards. any idiot should know that defenders don’t line up on 1 player anymore, they play zones and are on whatever player is in that zone at that time. It’s not the 80’s anymore and anyone who still thinks the game is played like that is an idiot.

Also Frampton doedee and butts have easily been better than our key defenders this year..

Also yet again you’re trying to distort the truth by arguing he played against witherdon. If you were remotely right you wouldn’t have to lie. Look at the footage of that big mark he took.. who was on him? 200cm Harry edwards. Lol.

The eagles fielded 200cm Harry edwards, 196cm Tom barrass 187cm Hurn and 189cm foley in the backlines.

I assume you want Ken offered a contract extension too

That was his best game yet. Attack on the contest was superb, which is the most important thing. Not sure if Finlayson also having a good game made a difference but he looked like he really wanted it. I was sitting down in the pocket by the hill where he took that last mark and the noise was huge.
