I don't get to see the 2nds. After reading thru this thread the way I'm reading players form is

Dev- injury interupted start to season. Been played fwd, to develop goal sense, still getting good mid time. Form now good enough for firsts.
T Berry- big improvement this year, more midfield time, disposal under pressure can still be a problem. Has nearly earnt a firsts call up.
Madden- gone backwards a bit. Is there a lack of interest? Did the extended time home in Ireland make him homesick?
Ely- had some good games but not consistent enough.
Tunstill- showing some real good signs, coming on nicely.
Lane- good signs in the ruck, worth persisting.
H Smith- had a few injury niggles. Shows good signs as ruck/fwd. Worth sticking with.
Wilmot- going well, tries the remarkable to often. Needs to settle and play the percentages a bit more.
Carter Micheal- steady, consistent without being flashy.
Payne- ready, willing and able to step up.
Matho- still Matho.
Lester- steady, been a very good role model and onfield coach for the young blokes.
Fullerton- slight improvement in fwd craft, but his one appearance in firsts not convincing.
B Coleman- not there yet, can get lost.
Mcfadyen- been good fwd, 3rd tall/med fwd. Bit of mid time. Up n down.
Uosis- unconvincing.
Cox- could well be a handy player when his fitness hits afl level.

Is that about right? Just going on what I've read here from others assessments.
Just adding that I think it's taken Blake Coleman time to get up to the fitness level required even for AFL and there's still some hope he could get better quickly when he does.

Re Tommy if you're going after the hard ball and taking a couple of blokes on all the time it's often difficult to have clean disposal when you get it. He's fine most of the time.

I'm happy if either he or Dev get a shot.

Blake hardly did any pre-season at all due to illness; having been a little behind the eight ball fitness-wise to begin with. Been some positive signs of late that he might be catching up. Yesterday was comfortably his most impressive outing.

Positive sign hey. Marc Murphy never bothered turning out with Suncoast.
The warning signs were all there.

I heard he couldn't even find Queensland on a map, and Carlton got him interested by telling him he'd only need play 10% of his games there if he joined them.

They didn't mention he'd only have winning records in the NT and NZ though.

I am optimistic he will come to the Lions but gee is he ambiguous with the way he speaks about the draft.

Keeps referencing Melbourne and is a Geelong supporter, so not exactly a crazy mad Lions lad.

Still think he'll choose us though because the club is in a great position on and off the field. Excited to see how he develops.
Are they new quotes? Or are they the same ones that keep getting reused from his interview before the season started?

Same ones in this particular article but there are other quotes referencing Melbourne.

Absolutely nothing to worry about friend.

The fact he hasn't come out and said...

'I love the Lions, I want to follow in my father's footsteps & win multiple premierships with this team, please no other team consider me because it ain't happening.' worries me.

Sure, he trained with us over the pre-season. Was at the game on the weekend, and is playing with our VFL team on the weekend, but he says things like, i'll worry about that decision when the time comes, and other things like Melbourne feels almost as much as home as Qld does now.

Why would he do that?

Could be a number of reasons, he’s probably been told by absolutely everyone to just enjoy and experience his draft year because it only happens once, he might’ve been told by his manager to keeps things quiet just for now, the club may have told him to keep things quiet for some reason. Either way I think he’s made his decision by now and it likely won’t change by draft day but the fact he’s trained with us, was at the game on the weekend and is playing for us this weekend can only mean good things.

Yep, action speaks louder than words.

Sometimes the simplest explanation is the right one. He hasn’t had to make a commitment yet, so why would he? I imagine many on this board may, for example, be considering changing jobs at the end of this year. Some may be quite certain they will. But that decision doesn’t need to be made until the end of the year, so why would they lock that decision in now? There’s really no reason to.

Look at the recent history of father sons if you have any nerves. Daicos didn’t commit to Collingwood publicly until very late in the piece. Nor did Darcy with the Dogs. This is the way it goes now, and I think justifiably so.
