As expected.
Won despite getting towelled up in the ruck. Gawn dominated from memory, but the rest of our side made up for it.
If we think this team can do what it did one year ago and overcome that disparity then fair enough. Personally I think the lessons from the GF spanking, Round one defeat and recent performances are more relevant than a game from 52 weeks ago.
Hope I’m wrong, but I’m off to check what’s in my tab account if the dees are still around $1.60.

Yeah well that’s not going to end well lmao, there is no way our midfield competes against Melbournes midfield in the time Buku rucks against Gawn/Jackson. It was ugly against Geelongs, Melbournes midfield is another ballgame.

Yes which is the problem. We don't actually have a good fwd / backup ruck on the list currently, which is why i'm guessing they have targeted Lobb. Sweet would have been "unsighted" too in the GF last year and wouldn't add much in his 5-7 CBAs he would get this Saturday.
Play Sweet and he is useless fwd, and not as good in the middle as English. You would then have to take a tall out in Bruce, Naughton or Jamarra who are all better fwd than Sweet (way too tall and slow otherwise) and then you are dropping someone who is a better forward than Sweet.
The failure current lies more on the list management side, rather than match day selection, we just don't have that reliable fwd / ruck on the list currently.
Don't worry mate, the spirit of the cape buffalo will outweigh any structural mismatches.English rucking against Gawn and Jackson all night. Except for when Bruce (just back from ACL), or any mixture of Dunkley/Hannan/Keath/Khamis have to take them on.

I imagine it will be Dunks with Bruce & Naughts taking the stoppages inside 50 (more wrestling and no jumping).
English will basically be playing 85% game time in the ruck. The other bits I imagine they’ll just run with 4 mids.
