A fair chunk of the side looks that way today. Almost like they know they won't be playing any AFL minutes.

it gets them in the end. Coaches have pivoted to SANFL performances being more inportant to spruik than AFL so basically told them that we're striving for continuity in the 2s. Hope they all check out and we start getting pumped. It would totally escape our coaches that potential AFL selection drive SANFL performance.

Players aren't stupid. They see through their bullshit.

the usual apologists around here lap it up though. "See, the coaches were right, his form has tapered off, just wasn't ready". Meanwhike their Browns, ROBs, Smiths, Neds & Murphys are untouchable despite months of poor or injured form.

I think the club has a history of trying to make failed picks work. Look at Jones and Ned. The best thing for McAsey was to get him home last contract.
What else can the club do? Happy that we persevere to a point as draft picks are valuable and you want to give every opportunity. Te problem is our selections

Looked to me like they were flogged at training during the week, hard running and physical impact contests, so the muscles were tired and sore. Not sure how else to explain it. The only ones that looked decent today were the good runners, sholl, taylor and davis.

Yeah suggesting we should have delisted McAsey in 2021 is silly. People would have absolutely roasted the club for picking a KPP at #6 in the draft and delisting him after 2 years, and rightly so. He's got a year to run and it's fair to say he's not looking like making it at all, but still no harm in giving him some time. It's not as though he's holding down a first team position and keeping someone else out.

What's with the lack of SANFL games this weekend?

Contingency in case SA had a lockdown? (Noting at the time the fixture came out there was still a real threat of this happening)

Oh well, good chance to give Taylor a game in the ones.

So obviously a bluff to get more favourable conditions from the SANFL.
That and the tired old snake oil salesman playing his predictable two card trick whenever things get desperate and the noisy mob needs distracting, in one week he’s rolled out the
“Look into my eyes, look into my eyes, not around my eyes, look into my eyes…….When I say ‘Prison Bars’ you’ll forget that Kern Stinkley is still coaching Port Power and that we’ve shat the bed three years running. When I say ‘The SANFL are agains’ us’ you’ll hand me your credit card details.”
God I hate this smarmy f***….it’s great that he’s at Port.

The relevance of Port in the SANFL is gone, the SANFL doesn’t need them, the best thing would be for the Crows and Port to go

I know 4 games out inuured you'd expect Rachele to come through the snafl, but if we were confident on the rankine deal that the strategy would be try to give Rachele a run in the midfield in the sanfl and train with the midfielder preseason to develop him into an elite mid.

Thilthorpe has to be very doubtful if he's ruled out of traveling to Perth...

sinor is a big out for them.. he seems to always play well against us..

our defensive line looks terrible, unless frampton comes back in.. if not its gonna be borlase and a heap of top ups..

sounded like TT will play.. according to Nicksy today..

Thilthorpe to qualify for finals if he plays the last 3 here.
He's only played 4 SANFL games and 9 AFL games. I think the rules state you need to play 3 after June 30 and also more SANFL games than AFL games for the season. So Thilthorpe can't qualify for SANFL finals. Himmelberg also won't qualify for SANFL Finals if he plays AFL this weekend.

Yes you are right..

Listening to fiveaa, the want for the Crows and Port to join another competition has to be an incredibly dumb stance by traditionalists. Now, let me tell you why.

Right now, those eligible to play for Port and the Crows is heavily controlled by the Sanfl. Clubs and fans forget this. Now, ok Lets say Crows and Port both leave at the end of this year for the VFL. Just who do you think the Sanfls best players are going to go play for? The Sanfl and its clubs loses that control and instantly, the leagues best players will be chasing reserves spots across the country. A national reserves comp will simply drain the talent of the Sanfl. Once a national reserves comp is established, 100% a national under 18 academy league will be setup and again, Port and the Crows will drain the states best young players.

Always, be careful what you wish for. Are the want to have the Crows and Port removed worth the final product which will be a glorified league full of players that simply only good enough for sanfl reserves.

I’m happy with him getting Sanfl midfield minutes even if Rankine isn’t coming

Traditionalists aren’t happy unless they’re screaming for clubs to be removed from the club.

There were some that still questioned Centrals and the Eagles worth in the SANFL well into the 2000’s (which was ironic at the time given they were the two dominant sides of that decade).
