People are entitled to their opinion buy it gets tiresome having to sift through people moaning constantly about the past
No doubt, but let's be honest - seventy five percent of Big Footy posting is centred around arguments =P
Hell, what am I saying? It's closer to 99.5 percent! Lol

Is Josh Bruce one of the best kpf in the comp? Serious question.
If you don't think so go check his stats against Tabs.
Same age , same time in the game.

So you care about stats now? That's new.

You don't get to have an opinion about Tabs, you were the #1 clown saying we should delist him for years.

We're a better team with him in it. His run + freeing up clark is a deadly combination. Really wish we'd play him over Ryan and Chappy, unless either of them start taking more dangerous kicks.
Plus Chapman taking the game on. He’s been quite static of late. Bringing players in while nursing them hasn’t been a good look around the bye.

It's just dumb playing a <20 gamer on potential over an experienced 150+ game veteran when we are fighting for a spot in the 4/8. Chapman has been poor since he's come back and at times a liability. Wilson has performed in his role and has given us so much run both directly through himself and indirectly with clark playing more free.

I think you’ll find your answer by listening to what JL has to say.

“I think players grow confidence from getting backed in and not being on edge all the time, but we need to find the balance between rewarding performances at Peel as well,” Longmuir said.

As a long time educator, this rings very true for me. There needs to be pressure put on the senior list by the Peel players. This helps drive excellence. However, when players are worried that any errant kick or brain fade in a game could get them off the team, it’s makes them play tight and uninspired footy. If you listen to Mundy’s interview in The Couch, he attributes the teams poor form in part due to mental obstacles that he said were “very correctable”.

Do you take a team who has shown they can kick over 90pts against quality sides and who are struggling and start to shift things around and not back in your players to return to that form? It’s not an easy call. But part of building relationships is to back people in, Help them improve and show them your committed. An ax wielding coach would have a harder time with this. JL was brought in, in part, for his ability to build that chemistry to get the most out of players. It’s fine to debate it here, but JL just isn’t that kind of coach.

I get what you are saying Daddoo and I like your optimism, but if we lose again tomorrow by 30 points and 7 or 8 lads are once again horribly out of form, some for a 4th week running, doesn’t everything you said here apply again the following week?
For example if acres and Schultz are terrible again this week, you can still argue next week “oh we can’t drop them, it will affect their confidence, back them in” etc etc.
Where do you draw the line? 3 poor performances in a row are ok but 4 or 5 aren’t? Or are they?
At some point we have to reward boys pushing hard underneath and be brave.
Safe conservative teams never win flags.
I’m glad that Nod is in and Tucker was a no brainer, he’s a 100 game player in very good form and right now, given how off form someone of his competitors have been for positions, is easily B22.

All the talk from all players recently has been along the lines of what fyfe said today. So hopefully we see the results of it.

“Earlier this season we played with a lightness. There was a strong connection between our group, the willingness to take risks,” he said.

“There wasn’t the burden of expectation on the team. Then we found ourselves in the top four, stringing together quite an impressive season and what comes with that is the weight of something to lose.

“We’ve been working with our group on removing the expectation of ‘we have to finish top two, top four, we have something to lose every time we step out there.’ That heaviness can really tighten you up in the way you play.

“If we can string together one, two maybe three wins, I’m confident we can find our best footy again at the right time.”

If "burdens of expectation" can derail us, we need to harden up.

The only thing that give me a bit of hope this week is that we are due something big from this group. There’s been no fluffy bullshit puff pieces about us and instead plenty of criticism this week.
Mundy retiring is another factor.
We should be ******* ravenous tomorrow. No excuses.
Can’t see it.
Don’t see ruthlessness or toughness from this group. Would love to see guys doing what Collingwood did tonight and just do some hard tackling and don’t shy after from the contest. Got smashed in that area last week v Melbourne. Bullied almost. Collingwood stepped up.

Do you honestly see that coming from JLO?

We've seen it multiple times this season.

If they lose their confidence because they get dropped, they can get it back in the early. There is a danger that players will become complacent if the know they will not be held accountable for a string of poor performance because you are the incumbent chosen ones. Tricky one.
