I agree. Miles Pfitzner was saying Dawson completely used us for a better deal at the Crows. He was always a Crow, Pfitzner saying that Dawson met with us in the afternoon and then went to Rucuiito's that night for a bbq and was having a good laughing about us. I don't care about not getting Dawson to me he's the epitome of a crows supporter/player, JHF feels like he should be at Port. With Rankine he was heavily involved at the Crows before he left for GC it makes sense he goes there particularly with that disgusting peroxide haircut he has happening at the moment.
Lol, so he used us to pump up his contract with Adelaide...and Ricciuto was laughing about it with him?

"Yeah good one mate! Add another $100k a year to your contract with us!"

Has Mayes played a game since then? Because that was the dumbest tackle in the history of dumb tackles.
Sure did lined up at FF against Melbourne the next week (might’ve been 2)

And yea it was a bad tackle, Murphy saw it coming even put mayo on his sore neck so he didn’t take a kick he knew he couldn’t make

Ben McKay Is an incredibly limited footballer, probably one of the most limited footballers going around, but he does one thing really really well.

Stand under high balls and take contested marks.

And s**t, could we use that.

To be honest he’s the exact type of key defender our coaches don’t like and would have delisted / traded if we drafted him…

So yeah, I would love him at our club. We could work around his limitations surrounding him with Alir, burton and Houston in the backline and pasini coming through is a very good mobile fit next to Ben.

Having said that, I just don’t think it is remotely feasible that we would land a contracted sought after Victorian key defender.
On McKay, I think it's the exact opposite. He is the exact type of defender our coaches would love. Intercept marking defender who can take a man or play loose. However I also agree with you that it is an absolute pipe dream he would leave Victoria. Maybe leave North, but there would be ten Victorian clubs looking to sign him up.

It's so idyllic it's almost like Rucci made it up. Because he probably did lol. Or he read it off the top of a white board that was labelled "Optimal but Unrealistic Trade Targets".

On JHF, if there's even the sniff of him being available you do your best to get the deal done now. As I've said before, it is very rare that a South Australian of his potential comes along in the draft. Maybe once every 5+ years.

Who knows what will happen next year? Adelaide appear to be in a somewhat compromised position this year to get Rankine + JHF, but next year that will change. He could start enjoying Victoria.

I don't think North would hold him to his contract if he doesn't want to stay there. Everyone remembers the Cam McCarthy situation and how that ended it up. If we offer something reasonable, like lets say our first pick and Bergman, I think they would take that maybe with some massaging. Pick 1 + pick 8 + Bergman means they can fill a lot of list gaps in one draft/trade period.

I can't see the Crows getting both in one year?

Also dependant on where he wants to go a little bit? unless he's happy just to get back to SA.

Sorry if already been said but why all the take about McKay just a want or been linked to us?

Yeah of course. However with contracted players a pretty key appeal of one club over the other is if the club can get the deal done. I think we are more likely to get a deal done this year compared to Adelaide.

We have the cap space. We have the trade currency. Seemingly the club is a relatively attractive place to play football (well, compared to Adelaide). Jason wasn't some Crow loving, Port hating, Eddie Betts idolising kid. I think that puts us in a strong position.

He also trained with the club pre-draft. I'm not sure if that counts for a whole heap.

It was a Rucci rumour.

Rozee, Butters and Horne-Francis would be the new Ablett, Bartell and Corey. During the broadcast in the Essendon game Jonathan Brown was talking about how most teams only have one game-changing mid but with Rozee and Butters, Port have two. Add Horne-Francis to the mix and it'll be like 'hasta lasagna, don't get any on ya'.

Really hope we can keep Bergman. We don’t have anyone on our list like him. Potential AA.

Unless we still have Hinkley and our current crop of assistant coaches coz they will find a way to **** it up, nothing surer.

Polec on Shuey

Shuey dropped the knees, raised the arm and created most of the high contact. It wasn't a great tackle but not the dumbest.

Mayes just ran in and threw a swinging arm to create the only free the umpire seemed prepared to pay.

Under the modern interpretation the shuey tackle would be play on.

The Mayes tackle or whatever that was, that was about as dumb as it gets, we were only 7 seconds away, the game was toast all he needed to do was apply pressure and another game ending stoppage was inevitable. Luckily for Mayes he got to share the dumbest footballer award with Houston for that idiotic soccer into the middle of the field to free crows players with 20 seconds to go.

That game pretty much ended our season too, I think if we win that we get our confidence back 3 weeks earlier and probably beat Carlton too and play finals.

Adelaide’s cultural problems won’t keep players away at all.

It’ll stop them from being successful but it won’t keep players away.

Dawson last year - Rankine this year suggests players are keen to go there.

We’ve got performance problems at our club and I can’t imagine anyone who is looking at ultimate success would want to go to us.

Crows seem to be more ruthless at the moment both with the way they are playing and regarding recruiting.
If JHF comes home, it will be to Port. Bookmark it.

They have had a couple of wins, but they are certainly not a destination club. They are not held in high regard across the AFL.
