What I noticed early on in the highlight package was how often Hately kicked to set up the goal or even goaled, something that had been missing somewhat from his game to such an extent earlier. Hopefully he is working on things and turning his game around, becoming more damaging.
Hately was excellent last week - certainly a class above.

Should we use the players who do not qualify for SANFL Finals as the medi-sub and non playing emergency this week?

Our midfield will be greatly weakened without Crouch and Hately. Should we go with Taylor, Pedlar, Cook and Turner against the Magpears?

The “clarification” of the SANFL finals criteria (when we said more SANFL than AFL games we really meant a higher percentage 🤔) means we will be a lot more competitive with The Berg and Sholl playing SANFL finals.

It should be fun watching how our KIDS perform in the SANFL finals.

Stephen Schwerdt was on our fitness staff for a spell wasn't he, seem to recall he left to take up a role at the Suns?

How close did Hately come to qualifying? I don't recall him playing a ton of AFL games.

I think it will be 11 AFL and 6 SANFL after this week.

By promoting some KIDS (Parnell, Soligo, Schoenberg, Thilthorpe, Hinge) and playing Crouch, Hately and Brown in the Twos we reduced the number of players who could qualify for finals.

Well done Chris Hall on 200 games.

Played a few league games for the Eagles in his draft year before getting picked up by Freo. Just lasted the 2 years of his initial contract and came back as skinny as ever! Good skills and did some important things in the Eagles 2011 premiership. 183 games later he was unlucky to miss the 2020 premiership after suffering an injury towards the end of the season. Then in 2021 was told he wouldn't get a game in a strong Eagles outfit. We could've done with him this year! He thought he still had some league footy in him and moved in with his old coach Godden and the Crows Reserves midway through last year. 200 games is SANFL Life Membership. That is a huge achievement. I admire these players who are doing it for the love and to be the best footballers they can be and maybe he can bookend his SANFL career with another premiership.

Hasnt qualified so why bother playing him this week. Should have played all the qualified players in the SANFL this week or any players like Himmelberg who needed to play this week to qualify.

Himmelberg and Sholl will still almost certainly still play though so no issue with qualification, the AFL side doesn’t need a traveling emergency, only a medical sub. Don’t mind Crouch playing with top spot still possible.

Himmelberg is only an emergency for the AFL team so he'll likely play anyhow. Why wouldn't we play Crouch he's contracted for 2023....and hasn't the coach said he's very much a required player numerous times?
Whether Crouch goes elsewhere next year is his decision by way of his contract, no doubt list management might prefer that he moves on at this point but he can decide to hold them to his contract and unless they pay him out he holds the aces in that regard.

With the game being played as the curtain raiser they may also manage a players minutes just in case they are needed for a late out.

It’s hard to believe but we have only one medium/small defender qualified for the SANFL finals (Davis).

McPherson injured, Parnell, Hamill, Hinge, Jones and Brown did not qualify. We are currently playing Matty Wright and Mitch Johnson on the opposition small forwards.

Our finals team should have a potent attack, young, talented midfield but a very vulnerable defence.

It’s up to you Billy!!!!!🙄

Is anyone giving port a chance in this game?

Beat em by 10 goals in game one of the season.

Quite a complement from that game now playing in the ones today too.

Anyone at Unley just see the most hilarious dive and throw of the head fishing for a free kick? It was slow motion comedy gold, so stupidly obviously not a free… which the ump then paid. Good god is the umpiring hilariously bad.
