Yep didn't get a heap of it that isn't up for question, did though compete well on the ground and in the air. Gerard liked his ruck work.

Could have kicked two and is about 4 games off roaring past CCJ & Xerri. Laid a great tackle, took a huge hit and Dal actually said wouldn't be surprised if he had broken ribs.

But he got up and went on with it.

His mobility and aggression set him apart from the other two gumtrees.

Just as an fyi

Xerri 23 yrs old 201cm 99KG's
CCJ 23 yrs old 200cm 105KG's
Comben 21 yrs old 199cm 84KG's- played about 15 games in the last 3 years.

The last couple of days have been bloody fantastic.

Meh,

if he is the cavalry its time to start studying the draft form.

prolly a bit unfair on him but sometimes reality is harsh. talls take time so might offer a bit more on back of an uninterupted season ans some better structures.
A little unfair? Imagine playing as a tall in that forward line, with the leading patterns used, the quality of ball movement and delivery. Not saying he set the world on fire but he can already take a contested grab, compete and kick it a mile.

I would give him some time to get used to the speed and for our team to get better before I throw him out with th bath water

One thing I noticed were two ruck contests where he moved around his opponent really well, was fast and took the best position. Small thing but potentially a really good one.
I is noticed that too.
His ruck work was very good . Tap work & body on body , looking to take advantage at each ball up .
Needs to put on min 10kg in the next 12-24 months

We had many on here saying that this guy was the antidote to our barren KPP stocks. He showed quite a bit on Saturday but we need another 2-3 players over the next couple of off seasons to correct the massive over dip into the midfield draft.
He might be the antidote, but it's another year or two away before he is able to regularly impact senior footy. And that is dependent on putting his injury woes behind him (so far so good.) It would be remiss of us to not provide some immediate cover in the KPF area, and to draft and develop another

Charlie reminds me of a young giraffe. Legs a little all over the place, chasing players and ball without much strategic thought. With good coaching, he should be ready for the jump next year, as this will be his first pre-season without a major injury.

The key for him will be getting a forwardline coach that actually has a structure in mind. Forwards seemed to just amble wherever.

He is not 84kg, would be early 90's.

For a young bloke who has had an injury riddled career so far I’m not not at all concerned by his game against the GC. Definitely shows some clear signs of being the mobile, aggressive tall that we need. Just hope that he stays fit enough to get a good run at it.
For those who have watched him more regularly in the VFL what do you make of his kicking for goal?
I was almost directly behind him for one of his shots and his body was front on to the point post which is where the kick went.

I think if Charlie can put on about 8-10kg in the off season, look out, he will be imposing. He has the ability but he needs to get a little stronger to help with the one on one contests. McKay should take him under his wing and become bench press buddies over the off season, to build his upper body strength.

McKernan was in exactly the same position when he started - great leap but not enough body weight and Pagan and the team managed to pack it on for Corey.

The same needs to happen to Chom - I would say 6-8kgs of muscle this off season then another couple of kg's the season after.

His leap is phenomenal and his junior highlights showed how effective he can be in the ruck against much taller opponents.

I’m not sure why people are worried about Charlie’s game at all?

Yes he didn’t clunk a lot of marks or get on the scoreboard, but what he did do was compete and bring the ball to ground.

Players like Paul Curtis are going to love this bloke. Charlie bringing the ball to ground so they can swoop on it.

Sometimes it’s not all about marks and goals, sometimes it’s competing and getting the ball to ground in dangerous areas.

I'm not up with these dating euphemisms mate what does that mean?
Ha- you if I remember correctly were not happy about us drafting a young fella who had broken 191 of a possible 206 bones in a human body.

You had a heightened level of concern. some may say justifiably so, but I'm not interested in that.
