Looks like us two are just about the only ones willing to give him a chance.Working my way thru SANFL games .....watching the Crows v Sturt
Loving the potential of McAsey ......is approaching contests in different ways .....he's not a one trick pony
Taken a mark 4 deep & goaled .....he sticks his body at the foot of contests, muscling ala Fogs ....and he leads
Just a good footy IQ

Let's see if the Club is thinking like me .......you just have to persevere with McAsey .....don't look at his stats, look at his movement, his thinking in contested situations ......FFS he's only 21 !!
Its funny, our SANFL forward line has always been a graveyard for key forwards. Even the last times we were strong in SANFL I don't recall many big bags.
Himmelberg's been there forever and is only just becoming dominant now and I still don't recall him getting more than 3 in a game, Fish is getting 1 here and there, Berg did that for ages too. That's because the normal oppo tactic is to flood our forward line, so the bigger and more lumbering you are, the worse off you are. That's why its people like Newchurch, McAdam and Wright who have got the big bags. Gollant has admittedly done well once or twice too but he's still a size smaller and therefore a degree more mobile than a key.
I thought from about a qtr of the way thru the season there started to be lots of good signs with Fish. Didn't get towelled up in defense for a few games in a row, took his oppo right out of it. Got moved up forward. V inconsistent to start with up there and having a hard time of it for a while but is getting more consistent and more involved. Has improved and improved. I think with a lot on his mind and falling a year behind where he should be in fitness and strength, has really delayed him, but I still think he can make it. Last week was his best game I think. A lot of nearly's. Those are the sort of things that change when you can get a good preseason in, get that little bit more strength, that little bit more tank, then you go from having a middle of the range game to being one of the best.
