Obviously you can never be 100% sure, but with all the predraft interviews and psycho analysing including personality types and whether a player can cope moving interstate, you wonder how we got it so wrong.

He didn’t look happy from the get go and has played like it since the first preseason game. Throw in the fact we got his talent wrong too and it’s just been one big **** up.

That’s done now, now it’s really just about him and getting on with his life in a good way and that won’t be here.

They can say all they want in the media but their face generally doesn’t lie.
See Tanner Bruhn on draft night.

You reckon that’s why he’s been a failed pick?

No doubt he's been a failed pick
I'm not sure what the root cause is.
You reckon it's purely down to a lack of talent?

Edit:- I think picking that player type with that pick is a fail, but if he came on like, say Lever, I'd probably be quite happy.

No one outside of Fish, his family and closest friends and some at the club would have a clue at to how how much his father's death screwed with him, but it's fair to say a lot. Shit happens and no club can foresee these type of things.

Yes he noticed the move and being a first round pick but the talk of "he looks like he wasn't enjoying himself" is a bit rich, FOG looks like that a lot of the time as well and loves the club.

I haven’t watched him a whole lot but it would see his lack of attributes have had a big say in his afl career

There have been a few moments from what I've seen where he's shown a bit and then completely faded out. I don't think its down to lack of physical attributes, but those attributes are near on useless if neither his head or heart are in the game.

You know his Dad didn't die ?
Heart attack I think but survived

enough is enough has the club actually thought about bringing his parents over for 12 months? this is beyond a joke.

unlike others i think there is some talents there but clearly very immature and its torture being away from home

how could our recruiters not have picked this up?

This! It was a huge draft failure, not because we misjudged talent, but because we didn't can this because of personality problems. How the psychos could not pick this one up is beyond me. He has no drive.

Wayne will be devo
I'll wait till there's more info ....everyone's assuming it's McAsey's mental health

If so .....it's more likely a timeframe wouldn't have been announced ....the Club simply saying McAsey's taking time off ......as it stands, we're only talking 3 weeks off

Some people just interview well and these things may not be as easy to pick up on.

The club tried to offload him in the off-season, but there wasn't enough interest. I'm sure we would've sold him for a last round pick if there was.
That's a huge assumption !

McAsey spoke to a couple of Clubs, that has been reported ....who instigated the meetings, is again an assumption

I daresay, 4-6 players also did the same ...albeit, those convo's didn't hit the press

It's really not as simple as you'd like to believe.

I hope he's alright firstly.

But this pick has been a total disaster and I think as soon as we selected him on draft night, most people here asked serious questions over his desire to be here. How did we not get this vibe in the pre draft discussions?
