Be careful answering some of those questions in the club survey. Answers and responses can be interpreted and twisted to suit agendas.

Any question that is confusing and vague to read should be given a score right in the middle.
Is it one of those stupid surveys that ask the same question 5 times with in a slightly different way?

We get them at work and I deliberately answer different cos they are treating you like a fool. Stuffs up their metrics.

Mine will be crystal clear, believe me!

I’m filling in four. I’m crystal clear too. (Question regarding on field
Performance the club knows exactly what the responses will be-do not get sucked in with these questions. It’s a venting exercise they expect).
It’s the other more subtle questions that’s more important to them (that
Includes the sponsorship ones) Money is king regarding these questionnaires. This club fears losing money more then anything.

Money brings power and influence no matter where we finish on the ladder.

Imagine if 100% of ppl responded they will never buy a Fujitsu simply because of the incompetence of the on field performance.

Sorry for the thread drift. I just really hate this corporate bullshit. The Essendon football club is up there with some of the worst.

reading between the lines, I reckon Scott will get cold feet. He is leaving it late to apply.

Wouldn't read much into what Caro says, her hatred of Hird ridiculous.
HQ want Hird. Announced in the Spring Racing Carnival lead up to put footy back on the back page.

Caro backing Scott as the person to hold up as the experienced option we overlooked so she can pour her hate.
She’s been on this bandwagon since before Hird was really a thing
Hird has never not been a thing. It's in Revelations people!

**** me, even people who hate us are trolling us by propping Hird up.

Was glad that Walls was on the panel because he and sheedy hate each other but he might pull a smart one and get Hird up.

The whole "aura" aspect is true and found in very few people. But it largely encompasses Hird's biggest strength - developing and cultivating personal relationships, which is severely underrated by a lot of people. You can't quantify that on a resume and really it's what makes or breaks most coaches, in the long run. I still maintain that the man-manager skills of Hird with a panel of gun technical assistants would be a great combination, better than a team of solely the latter.

One of the biggest failings of our recent 2 coaches was the inability to get buy in from the team, and another greenhorn in Yze faces the same dilemma. I have much more faith in a guy like Hird to get buy in from the group, much like he did during his last tenure. He had a pretty crap team running through walls for him. Pyke commanded a similar level of respect, albeit a far more talented team.

Pyke has said no I think?

If it ends up between Hird & Yze, I think Hird gets it. Not sure Scott will give up his cushy AFL role this early.

Don't think Lade will get close.

Just going from the clip from today - he seemed very respectful towards the Swans and their finals tilt. Ultimately he could've completely ruled himself out but certainly didn't.

Not sure if this question has been posed on here already but is there any chance the experienced coaches are staying away from the role out of courtesy for Hird? A bit like dating your mates Ex?

There might be a bit of a consensus among the coaching fraternity that he was hard done by and if Essendon want him in any way (and Senior coaching experience) to keep out of it - or hang back until genuinely engaged by the club.

This should be a job to go for with seemingly very few contenders, list has promise, and would be at least 3 years at good money on the table at a club where if yoi got it right the upside would be enormous- and yet so far we only have less experienced candidates who would benefit from going through the process either way (and not getting the role wouldn't reflect badly on them - so reputational risk free) and Hird.

How would you explain the absence of senior coaching candidates coming forward?

I just don’t think we know everything about who’s actually in the running. And the obvious ones named all have stable lives/jobs. Could be a matter of bad timing. And then it could come down to personal reasons for each candidate.

I doubt they are all thinking about Hird.

All fair enough points. It will be interesting to see if Scott comes out and says he wants the job now it seems the AFL is fine for him to go for it - or if there has in been other interest we don't know about.

If none of these guys have a crack there will be some reasons beyond bad personal timing IMO - and it wouldn't surprise if CW let's us know all about it after the fact.

For whatever reason I wouldn't discount Hirds name being in the ring overall as a big red flag to potential candidates.

I didn’t pay much attention to the GWS signing apart from knowing Yze was in the running, and then the other guy getting it. We’re they fairly open about it? I legitimately have no idea. I suppose us being essendon, the entire footy world is more inquisitive.

They do not want to coach.
Lyon has a decent media and business profile that makes decent coin. Like last year did not want to do the interviews.
Cameron just out of coaching and not looking to move back from Sydney for family reasons.
Pyke, Sydney still playing finals. Has not yet said yes or no.
Scott. Not likely to be interviewed until the next round of presentations.
Hinkley. Still has a job.
Williams. Not interested.
I think there is a lot of speculation. The coaches that will have to go through the whole process have done interviews. There where not a lot of experienced candidates. The club has not announced exactly who will be interviewed and when so it has all been media asking questions and running with what they know.

????
I'd say they have more sense than to work in a dysfunctional organisation for whose failings they'd likely be the scapegoat. There will be other jobs next year.

Doubt it TBH.
