Gawn is very good up forward. Elite mark and good on the lead.

He will kick 25-30 goals+ as a forward. Gawn kicked 13 goals this season playing majority ruck while Jackson kicked 11 goals playing majority forward.

Jackson is overrated. 11 goals in 22 games is a terrible return no matter how mobile he is.

Disagree, Gawn kicks goals when he floats down there as a ruck. I can recall him kicking one bag once but towards the end of the season when he actually played as a starting fwd he looked as lost as Nank or Soldo when we've played them as a perma fwd.

I’m starting to get the feeling GWS have low balled Soldo and he has told them GAGF.
I'm probably going to get canned for this, but with the five man bench probably coming in, I would rather we lose Hugo than Soldo.
I think Soldo is more important to our structures.
I like Hugo although he is not a great kick and panics a bit, but that can be ironed out. he has the tools to be a good player.
But we also don't know yet what Banks, Brown, Clark and to a lesser extent Dow can do. No reason why one of those can't play Hugo's role.
Competent ruckman are scarce.

I’m not far off agreeing with you… Ralphsmith gives exactly what Rioli, short, banks and brown all already provide.

you may hate the cats,

But effectively, they use that #7 to get the Geelong Falcons kid they want, and what they have done is get the top end kid they want, straight off a premiership for $1.6m and a future 3rd

Shrewd business, but good business IMO

Owing to the fact it's a shit draft and not all top 10 picks work out. Possibility they flush 3mil down the toilet when Bowes contributes nothing and the pick 8 ends up having a Ben Lennon/ Corey Ellis type career. Bowes isn't gonna be very popular being on more coin than 80% of their list. Hope it all backfires on them.

We need to get a Mod in here to delete :pointup:drivel. ;)

Soldo's limitations are as follows:

  • cannot run
  • cannot bend over beyond his knees
  • cannot mark, or put two hands up
  • can only kick reliably from 0-25 meters. Prefers to soccer it.
  • liability anywhere other than the ruck, and even then he's not spectacular enough to warrant a valuable seat on the pine
Soldo's advantages are:
  • great mo

AFL is a running game. HRS can run. Has flowing locks. He can learn to kick and will be a taller Boof one day.

Edit: SOLDO IS STAYING.

Soldo is perhaps the best backup ruck-man in the AFL. So happy. Those soccer skillz will beguile the hapless oppos in 2023.

With the 5 man bench possibility it seems like all the talk is that it’ll be a second ruck that clubs select. Why? I’d much rather have one of our top 30 picks from last year getting game time. Weather and opposition depending, of course. And if you do happen to get an injury in-game, you’d surely want four runners left on your bench?

Ina ideal world even if we keep Soldo I’d be hoping he only plays if Nank is injured because IMO they’re both only capable of playing as #1 ruck, neither can play big minutes in the forward without getting lost or in the way. I’d be hoping Samson Ryan with another big pre season and more muscle can come in and take the 5th spot on the bench because he brings a point of difference and can play as a forward as well

It’ll be good once Vince McMahon is officially named ceo
Given the stage managing of tomorrow night, you’d think he is already.

Clubs, especially ours, should show their contempt for head office and Hutchy and just complete all the trades before the embargo starts.

No content to broadcast except for re-hashing the day’s news.

Cop that!

Agreed

More than happy with Nank + Miller being our rucks and another runner on the bench

Has the deal been done yet?
Nah. Blair is watching pr0n at work whilst waiting for McCartney to ring. Dimma, Livo and the rest of the coaches are all sky high after passing around a massive doobie all day. Meanwhile Balmey can't find the Monte Carlo's and is threatening to quit if they aren't found in time for afternoon smoko

If GWS do a trade for O’meara before the Hopper deal gets done then I reckon the Hopper deal isn’t happening.

They’ve been stewing on this for over a week now and it would show that GWS just aren’t even engaging in talks with us.

Another day of no word from any of our recruiters on any media aswell.
Really strange trade period from us and actually quite frustrating since we’re all in the dark about what’s happening.
