Pre-season training: January 14th, 2023

Saturday morning. Sunny..

Elliott and Sidebottom were back training.

Though there was a couple absentees:

  • Ryan (maybe easing him back into things, he was at the light session yesterday)
  • Cameron (was given some extra days for his brother's wedding)
  • Macrae (definitely some sort of injury, but what, we dont know yet.. TBA)
  • Kreuger (surely his shoulder is an issue)

Markov was again watching training and chatting with the staff/coaches from the other side of the fence, the AAMI park side of the ground where I was. I had a chat to him, he's a nice bloke. Spoke about a couple things. What the opposition thought of Ginni, whether he knew any of the players and such.

Fly saw me and called me over, I thought he was talking about someone else behind me. He knows who I am haha. Was a bit daunting, but he felt he should introduce himself. It was a nice chat.

Training got started pretty much right away, around 9am. Finished 10:45-11am, thankfully too given by that point the heat was starting to come, and was not gonna be pleasant.

The fairly standard stuff. Warm up. And onto fundementals.

The Daicos' parents were also watching as well, helps its a saturday so they probably have the chance to do so. Not something that happens too often.

Match play and then they played the handball game, in a chain of succession.

For a kid the size he is, Oscar ran down Arlo Draper and laid a good tackle. Got the applause of his teammates. He was playing forward and ruck, swapping in and out with cox/begg.

Some interesting details:
Both Maynard and Elliott were included in more midfield stuff. Usually centre bounces, but they then would float back to their lines (back/forward) They had Nick on the wing, but I asked his parents if there was something in that, but they just saw it as just moving players around for the match play today. But think he went back, and Allan was on the wing, at least my side of the ground.
Draper did a bit of half back and midfield, in the way that Lippa does forward/midfield. I think the more players that can float through centre bounce the better, rather than have all the same type.

Rehab:

Beau and De Goey did a lot of the session, but then did a running session.

Moore did his first running session, with the cheers from the boys.

Later in the session, there was a bunch of players that did a running session, getting some extra conditioning in their legs after the christmas break I imagine.

I’ve been saying for some time, Maynard on ball is the way to go!

You’ve misjudged the direction of his post. What he was saying was close if not exactly what you just said in this post. Feels like you’re getting offended for the sake of it here.
Well if I said to you you have NFI I am sure you may be offended also especially as my Dad has had Osteo in his body for 84 Yrs I have some idea of my
dads prevails over the yrs.

If you read back through my recent posts in this thread you may understand why I do feel offended and yes with some justification as I never said he would never miss the 1st month of the season which seems to be attributed to me wrongly.

If you think I am offended for the sake of it that,s your perogative but if I called you a lying arseh*le I bet you be offended but I would not and have never done so to anyone here but I decide when I am, being belittled not you.

Any chance you can elaborate on what he said about Ginni?

Also did his opinion of him change after meeting him at training?

If he told you not to post these details of the conversation, then I totally understand if you don’t answer.

Cheers!

Haha. He just said that the opposition view him as someone they love to hate to play against, because no matter everything surrounding him, he is a very good player. I didn't ask if his opinion has changed. As I'm not sure he played v him, as he was in and out of the suns team last year.

Well done Jen, obviously Fly is a fan of yours and must be a keen observer of your training vids etc....

Just on Krueger, he is a real concern. He just can't get his body right. Hopefully he can get a good run at it this year, once he is over his current injury concern.
He just seems destined to be one of those players who retires prematurely, because they could never get their body right, and constantly injured.
Fingers crossed though, he can play majority games this year, but l won't be holding my breath....

A look at this on paper and geeze we’ve improved our list by a mile. A lot more balanced and good depth.

Jen, Is Krueger in danger of joining the likes of Leigh Walker and Mark Orval as players that looked to have it all but were let down by their bodies? It's worrying to see he is yet again carrying an injury.
It is worrying. its just his shoulders. Lets hope he can get it sorted.
