Love how the AFL have turned preseason matches into a total farce.

Looking forward to Worpel and Stephens swapping jumpers with Smith and Ceglar for the 5th and 6th period - “welcome back boys!”

Whilst this will be more important than the intraclub for Rd 1 purposes, let’s just hope everyone gets through and we have close to a full list to pick from for the Pies PM.
Stephens out with concussion.

I hope the Handbaggers put up a fight and give us a decent workout not like the flogging we gave them Easter Monday last year.
Only 2 days for the rest of the comp to realise that the Hawks are actually going to be okay. I wonder how they'll all cope 😂

From Tom Mitchell, Jaeger O’Meara, Jack Gunston, Ben McEvoy, Liam Shiels and Kyle Hartigan I'd say only the loss of the first 3 will be missed. The signing of Meek offsets the loss McEvoy and the signing of Amon offsets the loss of JOM. Gunston is the one that is hard to replace but at the end of the day with all his injury concerns he wasn't consistently back for us for long periods anyway. The issue for us this season will be around experience which is something we'll just have to weather for a season and half.

Did we play 8 periods v the pies last pre season?

For some reason I though it was only 6.

The VFL boys certainly brought us home, I remember that.

I think it was 6. Lol yep, we got absolutely spanked in the first half before the VFL boys fought back for the draw.

Fergus Greene really impressed me in that game tbh. Glad he's on our list now.

Yep but 4 of the quarters will be played by the senior squad and the other 4 quarters by the VFL squad. Can't wait
I'm assuming VFL squad plus players 27-40(or however many are fit) of the Hawthorn squad

That was said earlier, it will largely be that but there may be some wriggle room.

I can’t see them having any player starting and finishing more than four quarters apart, it’s not what they train for

Also scheduled just 3 hours on TV

Yep. Judge us on our first 3-4 quarters.

I recall the Pies absolutely jumped us this time last year. Were 10 goals up at half time then put the cue in the rack.

You could tell they looked way fitter and were up for a much better year than us.

Really hoping to see some good signs in the first half on Thursday.

I loved Jaeger, and T. Mitchell even more, but I believe Amon will give us more this year than any of these players would, especially if we compare all of their outputs in recent years.

Amon brings energy to this team that the aforementioned didn't, and is much more damaging with his disposals, as we saw in the intraclub. I believe Amon will bring a dynamic to this team that we haven't had for a while, outside of Newcombe. Those two can easily be our top two midfielders by years end, if not already.

Winning a clubs B&F is no easy feat, and whilst we'll enjoy watching the progress of Ward, McKenzie and co., we can watch the more seasoned and reliable Newcombe and Amon as well.

(disclaimer: I know Newcombe is only 21yo, but he plays like he's a seasoned campaigner. He is an absolute jet, a monster. He is our Fyfe, Dangerfied, Cripps etc)

Anyone know if the game will be available to watch on Kayo after airing?
Can't think of a reason why it wouldn't be, that's half the reason for subscribing to Kayo.
