Best Scorchers' batsman of all time.

Definitely a great of WA cricket, especially with that breakthrough Shield win last season.

One of the more underrated ODI players of the last few decades. Made some 100s from very challenging positions.

Very frustrating Test career. Could have been anything in the red ball, but injuries and inconsistency plagued him.

Will be sorely missed, a great player to watch when going.

My dad taught Geoff in high school, and remained friends with his parents (Shaun's grandparents) after he moved on from that job. One school holidays we get an invite to come hang out on their farms near Wandering. At the time I was a massive fan of Geoff (WA bias) and was completely stoked a the prospect.

So we're staying at the grandparents place, and Geoff and his family (Michelle, Shaun and Melissa at that stage) come over to meet everyone and I turn into an 9-year-old-fangirl. Something about that upset Shaun so he starts punching me in the middle of his grandparents' hallway. I wasn't keen on getting punched so retaliated with the full maturity of a kid in year 4. Being 3 years older, bigger, and heavier, I beat the shit out of him until dad pulled me off and sent me to my room to play by myself.

I've always hated that summation, and maintained if Shaun was ever given the same extended crack a la Mark Waugh in '92-'93 it would've been of benefit to the national sides as whole.

Instead he kept getting bounced after a couple of games, or series, and it became an Eastern states media frenzy about Shaun getting so many chances.
