Geez guys; I thought we looked a far better side when BW was in the middle. He had some really good second efforts.
Longs defensive efforts were terrific. The lads a thinker.Couple of minor cockups but hey?
Xon should stop looking at the umpire for frees.Sorry but he hasn’t got it.
Duggan was absolutely horrid at times.
Dom was asleep for a half.
Our midfield coach ( who is it by the way? ) needs to work on defensive stoppages. We got killed especially at boundary throw ins as we never had anybody behind the play.
Witherden is a no no.
Too many times we hesitated about attacking the contest. We seriously lack some grunt!
Still could have been a whitewash!!!

Regardless of the commentary shuey has manufactured that free kick dozens of times so its fair enough to question it

On SM-G973F using BigFooty.com mobile app

He's had some dubious ones, but he was bent over collecting the ball. He raised his arm but it's not like he's done a Ginnivan and thrown himself at a tackle while dropping his knees (this time).

Onus was on the tackler and late in the game, hot one, tired, cramping players everywhere it was poorly executed.

Equal to Hurns shitty effort much earlier in the game getting Larkey high from behind.

  • and - Didn't watch the game.
  • kids?!
  • coming off night shift.
  • another one tonight.
  • apparently a 5th midfielder is as useful a ruck as our 5th year development bloke 😞
  • pretty close to a first choice backline and a forward is kicking 6

Is there any ruckman at all in the WAFL? Delist one and pick up almost anything else dear god 😞
We need you Nic!

Oh dear god, I just remembered the Allen walking into an open goal with Darling and missing from 2m out.

"Haha wowee, I hope that doesn't cost us the game..."

💀

Would've gone 4 goals up from memory and taken all the momentum with us.
If he'd kicked that it would have been a draw. We'd get one less behind and one more goal.

Then it goes back to the middle and Bailey Williams gives away a holding the ball free kick where he takes it out of the ruck and tries to rush past 5 players. NM get at least a point from that i50

Ryan’s kick to Cripps not 15? Piss off!
Kicking in danger?
All North had to do was wave a hand in the air and they got a free.
The Zuhhar free against Hurn was rubbish.
Least WCE can get screwed by four umpires instead of only three!!
Not a brilliant performance but the Zuhhar free against Hurn was clearly there. Our palyers were dumb at times

Smashed in the clearance against a team with no ruck. We might as well not bother with our ruckmen and just play two extra mids. Complete wastes of space.
Thinking during the week that Clarko has a good record against us generally. What would he coach? 'They are slow to run and move the footy so structure up behind the ball, they are soft so crack in and win the contested ball.' Set and replay. Are we consistantly the softest team? Ryan came good but was very selective in the first half for example.

Williams drives me nuts because he is athletic and he does occasionally show promise.

But I cannot understand how he cannot learn or be taught to mark the footy with both hands.

I think everyone wants to see something there, but he's not a smart footballer and if he can't fix something as simple as that, I can't see him getting any smarter.
He always sticks one hand up because he is always in the wrong position.

Siren’s just gone on my replay. Will do some more composed thoughts eventually but the big takeaways:

Can’t let anyone get six goals up, let alone North lol.

Umps rode them home. Shuey duck was a disgrace and that will be used to hide the absolute carry job by the appropriately dressed whistle blowers, but we’d win that every time with a half decent crew.

We’ll be right. We’ve known all off-season it would be a shit year so settle in and watch the kids have a dip. Intention to go aggressive was there for stretches, reverted back to safe footy too much, got the talent to nick a few wins while we watch Ginbey/Chess/Culley/Hough/Long/Bazzo/Allen make it their own.

Ginbey will still be a better player than Sheezel.

I don’t particularly rate seagulls.
North would be rightfully creaming themselves over Sheezel’s debut, we’d do the same, and you’d project a good career for him if he finds it that easily.

But he was also close to our best today.

Positives:
Ginbey - Looks to have the highest potential ceiling as midfielder for us...in a long time
Long - Looks like we could have found another late steal in the draft
Jones - Created a lot of opportunities from his line breaking and follow up work
Hunt - Slotted in nicely and did some good things. Only up from here
Cole - Not a great game by his standards, but he showed his intent. Form will come
Forwards - If we can keep Darling, Allen, Ryan & Cripps on the park...we have more than enough firepower to win games

Negatives:
Brainfades - Probably lost 5-6 goals to poor decisions...Allen in the goal square. Jones in the goal square. Shuey calling for the handball off Ginbey. Shuey with a poor pass into the 50. Kelly with a couple.
Ruck - Williams and Jameson aren't and may never be ready to take-over from Nic Nat. We need to look for other options.
Midfield - Shuey and Sheed tried all day, but they just aren't enough unfortunately. Too small, slow and one dimensional. Kelly and Gaff continued their downhill skeeing
Witherden - I've defended him in the past, but he has to go. Absolute liability.

Think this game gave some of our overly 'optimistic' posters a bit of a reality check.

Showed good glimpses of transition in the first quarter before shifting the bed in the second. Pleasantly surprised at the fightback but you're not going to win many games of footy giving opposition teams that kind of advantage.

Last year we would've rolled over, so being able to run the game out was encouraging.

Sucks that we lost but really, it's probably for the best in regards to the year's draft. This is no quick fix and I'll be content this season if the kids show something, the team runs out games and is competitive.

We showed more better transitional play in the first quarter than we did for the entire last season. You can see players wanting to pull the trigger quickly but it didn't come off a number of times. Still, the intent was there and it will get better with practice.

For most of the senior players, they're trying to unlearn stuff from 2015 whilst being at the end of their careers. When the kids take over properly, it'll be much more noticeable.
