You’ve won the only wooden spoon in the last 12 months 👏 literally 1/1 - 100% strike rate. E L I T E
Not as elite as winning the one game you should've lost to get Reid, a year after JHF told your mob to **** off.

Imagine being such a dickless **** that your team just won for the first time in nine months and all you can do is protest on the opposition team's board.

For the avoidance of doubt since all of North's two fans are lurking here at the moment, both of these things are true:

1. The umpiring was atrocious
2. You deserved to win even without help from the umps and it would have been the pyrrhic-est of victories if we had even stolen it. So good on you.

Now, onto other matters.

1. Yes Culley was shit. That was disappointing - hopefully he gets at least a few weeks even with Harley back to try and find some rhythm. Watching on TV he seemed to work harder than most to be an option ahead of the kicker but was running to poor spots. I'm happy to give him a few more chances.

2. In the context of the game he played in, I thought it was a pretty good debut from Hutch. Don't know whether we can keep him in the side but all things considered I liked his effort.

3. I don't think it is overreacting to say that those kinds of performances when Harley is not playing are not going to do us any favours. He is going to have his pick of clubs to play for and I wouldn't blame any A-grader for wanting to be at a club that doesn't completely go to water when he isn't there. I am not saying that Harley was the difference yesterday given there are other factors at play too, but we cannot be this limp every time he isn't there. I think we are a good chance to keep him long term but we have to put up a more forceful case than what we showed yesterday.

4. I'm still done with Sheed and Gaff. Just done. Don't care who we bring in. Senior players who aren't good enough any more should at least be providing a hard edge and protecting their younger teammates. If you can't do that, get in the bin. Seeing as they can't or won't, let's take a look at what we have underneath, maybe we will unearth a few that make the step up. We won't know unless we try, and we won't gain anything by continuing with what doesn't work. @ me on this point if you want to be added to my ignore list.

Not getting the Culley criticism tbh.

Bloke drafted in the MSD, playing his 10th game after a 12 month layoff from an ACL comes in playing as 2nd banana to Yeo vs a midfield with 3x top 5 picks.

Culley will be a 4th string midfielder, who'll replace one of Yeo, Kelly, Reid at CBDs.

He also had a number of times where he was leading up at HF and completely ignored, because the ball carrier decided kicking to a 1 on 2 near the boundary was a better option...

The AFL appears to be trying to take all contact out of the game.A couple of bumps as players kicked were not penalties.
Deliberate out of bounds is now a joke and EVERY footy fan knows it.
A Richmond player chased a kick that went out and he was shaking his head at the cameras before it went out as he knew it was going to be a free.
What’s the obsession with keeping the ball alive? Are we trying to turn the game into “athletes only” need apply?
-Cully was ok.Let’s give him a few games. He was in position top of the 50 a couple of times but we were more interested in our usual bull at a gate slam dunk it forward stuff the look first.
- Duggo, Barass,Cole,BW, all get the ball charge ahead and boom!! Yes you can be under pressure but 1/20 of a sec to glance up and at least put it to advantage.
-HED was quite good.Composed.
-Hewett is class and “if” he gets back in good nick he is A grade+.
-A.Reid apparently is coming along well. 204 cm kids don’t develop overnight.
- Is Hall the ruffian we bring in as Harleys protector? He handballs more than he kicks so inside would suit.We need to groom somebody aka Rowan Jones.
-I’m beginning to think some on here are right about BW. He’s done well but if Flynn seizes the No1 mantle then JW has more upside esp in body work around the ground.
-I’ve been a Chesser fan but a few times the ball has spilled from centre bounces straight at his wing and he’s waited instead of beelining the ball.Mate physicality is a non negotiable.
OA,TK,Hewett and Harley will make a massive difference to our team.Johnston is definitely going to make it.Just need to beef him up a bit.
-Will be interesting to see how our ex Richmond recruiter goes.Demand a priority pick and go after Baker.he will give us a bit of steel.
All is not lost.

One thing I do want to see the eagles do after this game. Is ask the AFL about clarification about the holding the ball decision against Yeo

I am just getting a little bit annoyed that the club just takes it on the chin all the time....I think we need to stand up for ourselves otherwise its just going to keep happening

Two teams butchering it all day then an umpire deciding it with an absolute howler. The game proved there is not enough talent coming through grassroots footy to sustain 18 teams let alone another.
Theres funktonnes…. Absolute funk tonnes of footy talent up north.

Of course we have a vic centric afl that pours 80% of the development money into victorian footy….

Mate if you saw some of the talent on dirt grounds up north wa / nt

What an absolute shambles this club is., we are better off losing by playing the kids not has beens. im close to crossing over to the dockers at least they have some young talent coming through. We have nothing just b and c grade players.
We are in for years of pain this rebuild hasn't even started yet
F*ck off then

As mentioned above, the ridiculously tight interpretation for "late" bumps has got to go, they've stuffed this up recently with players very much in the contest and unable to slow down being penalised.

The player has to commit and can't slow down when they're that close. You don't know you're going to be milliseconds late when you're running in because you're unsure how long they will take to get boot to ball.

If they backed off from 3m away and the attacking player decided not to kick and tucked it under the arm and ran with it the defending player would be hung out to dry for backing off.

If it's less than rougly half a second it should be fair play.

Some of these free kicks are being paid for guys making contact 0.2 seconds after the kicker has disposed. They're very close to being great bumps that force the kick OOBOTF but are getting penalised with frees against.

To put your mind at ease, the vic media signed off on it this morning. All good, correct decision 👍
