The weirdest thing about Koch is that he should know better. I watch him on ausbiz all the time. Talking with smart people about big businesses in highly competitive industries who need to make every post a winner and whose management will be punished by investors for every little mistake.

And yet, he runs the club like some kind of local sport and recreation club. The most important thing is community and mateship. Hire the kooky old guy who used to play a bit of footy back in the day and appoint him coach for life because nobody else wants to do it. Be happy as long as you're not losing every game. Because that other club in that other neighbourhood have always been better than us and that's just how it is.
