Glad to see the support for JUH her tonight. But to everybody that criticises him when he has a quiet game, ask yourself what you would be thinking if JUH was the 43rd pick in the draft. The answer is that you would be saying this is a guy who has kicked multiple goals consistently in his career and is about to turn into a star as his body develops. That is exactly what JUH is. He’s not far from being gun in the toughest position on the game. Judge him on what he is and not his draft pick…

Five goals against Melbourne last year was certainly his breakout game. It gave him (and the fans) the confidence that he was ready to compete at this level.

However this game was much more. It wasn't just another five goals. The whole footy world was watching how he'd respond and he would have been well aware of the spotlight on him. He responded in the most emphatic way you could hope for. The Winmar gesture and the post game interview also spoke volumes about his personality and presence. This was a career-defining game. He will be a player to be reckoned with from here on.

Hi! Forgive the intrusion - is there any footage of the Winmar celebration tonight? Would love to see it... GO the doggies!11!

I was at the game and from some quick highlights I’ve seen, I don’t think the broadcast picked it up. Maybe some new angles will come out in the next few days.

Some photographers got pics of course

Thanks mate. I heard it was played at half time, but I'm overseas so I didn't get the half time content and I can't find anything online. Just passionate about the issue.

Yes, it's extremely odd that with oodles of broadcast cameras at the ground nobody has yet seen any action footage online. If any was readily available it would surely be all over the web by now.

I can't believe wit all those cameras following the action that they somehow didn't capture it.

I wonder if Kim Jong Gill is running it past his lawyers and sponsors before he allows it to be released?
Or perhaps they are holding it back for Winmar Day, 17th April?

Impressive young man. Shows some real leadership potential, not simply ability.

Embrace him and we will get a decade of enjoyment being privileged to have him representing our club

Nicky Winmar may not have done him any favours, albeit with the best of intentions. He has described Marra's gesture as the time for handing on the baton to the next generation (or words to that effect).

While I agree with the sentiment this kid is only 20 years old. He's got a fair bit to deal with, just making his way as a No 1 pick, considering the massive expectations that go with such an honour. I'd rather he had a few more years in the system before also being designated as one of the main torch bearers for indigenous players in the AFL.

Fortunately he seems remarkably grounded and resilient, so he might well be up to the challenge. A most impressive young man.

Anyway, let's keep his back ... just in case.

Why Jamarra? Do indigenous boys in other teams cop it too? Hopefully any idiots silly enough to do this get called out by bystanders or security in most cases.
Unfortunately racism towards indigenous players is pretty common.

Fifteen of the 29 said they had experienced racism within the last 12 months.

The most common incidents of racism were reported to have occurred on social media (26), with spectators at games being the next most prevalent (13), followed by when playing at community level (10), publicly (10) and in the media (4).

A couple of points:

1. For a young man he speaks in such an eloquent manner. He has inner confidence without sounding arrogant and appears to actually think before he opens his mouth. Refreshing. Not common in QLD.
2. His kicking for goal ‘around the corner’ from set shots looks to be very well practiced and reliable (Sam Darcy as well).
3. He could well be our next Captain if Bont can hold it for another 4-5 seasons.
4. F**k he looks fit. I rarely get wood at mens abdominals but….but 😬
5. That is the first TicToc video I have ever been exposed to (above on this thread). Does that mean the Chinese now have me by the balls?

The Chinese do in fact know all your deep dark secrets Bridog. But they have come away extremely shaken and disturbed by what they have uncovered on your phone. Wouldn't be surprised if there is major technological breakdown in China this week. Agree with everything you said about jamarra and so does Xi Jingpin.

I think he's speaking more broadly about indigenous players in general. Winmar has a significant place in the history and the shaping of the game, but he understands implicitly that his time was 30 years ago and fresh voices are needed to carry the message to an entirely new generation. Im not sure that the instigator has been publicly revealed, but as I understand it that person was a teen.

"I'm proud of Jamarra for standing up for himself. It's up to the new generations to reinforce the stance I made back in 1993"

If anybody has it within themselves to take on the baton and run its Jamarra.

Yeah I like the thought of Jamarra ‘carrying the baton’ so to speak. He has the intellect, family support and strength to take on the intellectual pigmy’s that litter the outer. Bevo’s reference (I’m currently not a fan) to ‘Elvis’ (Winmar) was his way of saying that he thinks Marra can take on that task - that was my take anyway.
