Averages for the last 6 weeks:

9.3 disposals, 5 marks (1.6 CM, 2.3 MI50), 2 goals, 0..84 tackles

You'd like the disposal numbers up a bit into that 11-12 range and he probably needs to get his pressure and tackling numbers up if he's going to play as a medium/3KP, but it's a decent bit of form over a decent period. This includes games against Geelong, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.

For comparison, over his last 6 games Naughton is averaging:

10.5 disposals, 4.6 marks (2.3 CM, 2.84 MI50), 2.3 goals, 1.5 tackles

After watching Marra last year I was concerned about what his POD was. Key forwards especially need them and I hadn't really seen his yet.

What he's shown at AFL level this year, though, is that his ability to create shots on goal is very high level. He's consistently getting the ball in poor positions and then crafting a good shot on goal, which is something our other mids lack. Needs to get more "easy ball" into his game, but his ability to create is definitely a POD for him.

He's playing with confidence and hitting contests hard, and our mids are getting comfortable targeting him when Naughton isn't having a great day. That's two games now where we've clearly made a tactical shift to target Marra over Naughton, and he has been able to help get us over the line.

Still a long way to go but very nice signs emerging.

Averaging 6 marks a game for the last month, an outcome of presenting really well and using his smarts and athleticism to gap his defender, along with sticky hands.

Still not sure what the best version of him looks like, but that’s become a more exciting, rather than concerning, prospect as the season has worn on.

Great hands, great kick, he's half way there.

Getting a bigger tank, 2nd efforts improving, now looking like an AFL footballer.

I was concerned earlier this year but now certain he will play 200+ games with us.

Delighted but not surprised he buried the Dees, thought it was coming.

His 0.4 v Freo shows there's still work to do though.

Averages over the last 8 games:

10 disposals, 5.4 marks (1.5 contested, 2.75 I50, 2.1 MOL), 1.6 goals (3.9 SAG), 4.5 score involvements, 0.75 tackles, 8.75 pressure acts.

For key forwards only over the course of this season, the marks, contested marks and marks I50 averages would rate above average and the marks on lead would rate elite. His shots at goal average and pressure acts would also be above average. He would be largely average in most other stats, except tackles, which is below average.

He's not quite setting the world on fire yet, but he's been a solid and consistent contributor for two months now. This stretch would project as about 35 goals, 120 marks and 33 contested marks over 22 games. If he could produce something like that next year he'd be a good second KPF.

On current development trajectory and barring injuries he'll kick more than 35 next year.

I'm bull(dog)ish.

"In-depth" analysis elsewhere on this board apparently showing the only reason, the ONLY REASON, we will miss finals, is because JUH is NOT Josh Schache.

I'm not here to be a detractor of Josh, goodness knows he cops enough of it on here as it is. But in spite of totally flawed statistical comparisons in the so-called "analysis", it seems if Josh played games this year and JUH didn't, we would have romped into the 8. Go figure.

What did I miss here…. Where does Shack fit into this 😊

Don’t let this distract you from the fact that aside from kicking goals, the next best measured metric for a key forward is the number of disposals they have.

Type of player who lifts when the game is there to win and wants the ball in his hands. Think we’ll see plenty of winning goals from JUH over the years.

I’d rather we didn’t, just more of the final nail in the coffin as JUH kicks his 7th for the ladder leaders to seal the 63 point win over 2nd place whoever
