Arguably they only have got three decent players from GWS? Williams, Matt Kennedy and Marchbank? Marchbank has been injured for about 4 years and Williams is sadly having a rough run in his first two years at carlton.

The rest of the list is brutal, Plowman plays games but is very poor, and others like Kristian Jacksch, Mark Whiley, Liam Sumner, Jarrod Pickett, Jed Lamb were pure wastes of list spots.

They had Setterfield as well

Why do you think the big Melbourne clubs backed the draft concessions for GC and GWS? They knew they would get half the kids drafted from Vic on the cheap a few years later.
Because we are Lions supporters and those of us based in Qld can watch all the Suns' games, we see all of the Suns players in the other teams. Most other people wouldn't.

Can't wait to get Leigh Montagna's breakdown of Adelaide's gameplan on first crack, pressure map off the charts "they arent a team of super stars but they work for each other and have belief", Kingy will come in with a big call maybe some thing like "Adelaide can finish top 4 and Rankine is now a top 3 player in the competition", they'll do a segment on it On The Couch Monday night and they'll name their game plan "the Crows Nest" or something, and Whateley will declare "Adelaide have officially arrived" on AFL360 Monday night.

Then Adelaide will lose to Hawthorn next week.

Looks like I was pretty accurate, just mixed up the pundits.

As a true GWS fan, I turned Kayo off with four minutes left in the game because Hawthorn had just waltzed through the Giants' midfield again for a goal and I was about to put my fist through the phone in frustration. Missed all this until watching later last night. :D

' Footy fever was still at a FEVER PITCH outside Gate 20 at Adelaide airport...

'It feels like half of Australia's population has descended on Adelaide....

Crikey.

Sounds like somewhere I'm glad I wasn't.

Just watching 360 on delay now. They're doing all the flashback bits & cut to the SA Premier doing his spiel on why it should be Adelaide.

Because we love our footy & because we turn up.

Lolol, distinctly remember tarps covering seats in many many many Port Adelaide games.

But to be fair, West Lakes was 13km from the centre of town.

Don't have to look too hard to spot the predator clubs.
And it goes again that Gary Lyon on the couch just said that Vic clubs should be targetting GWS Himmelberg and then quips that Dave Matthews will be angry with me for saying that or something to that affect. I mean Lyon doesnt say WA or SA or QLD clubs should be targetting him, but Vic clubs. I can't believe these people don't even know there own biases or maybe they do probably dont care.

Then to top it off talking about GWS Sam Taylor and praising his game and then Jono Brown says if played for Gollingwood or Carlton he'd be a household name.Geez Browny, didnt think you would go there. Why does any player need to play for big Vic clubs to be recognised?

Because the AFL only exist to support the VFL.

And then on Footy Classified, Kane Cornes says hes spoken to Port about going after Himmelberg - somewhat refreshing that it isnt a Vic club and of course Hutchy chimes in that he'd suit Collingwood or Geelong - FMD. Seriously.

I hope one of two things 1. He stays at GWS,I really do or 2 if he does leave, he joins the Lions which I actually dont see how we could fit him into the salary cap ;)

I think i'd be sick if he joins one of the big Vic club.

It’s really as if our game against Collingwood didn’t happen.

All media articles, predictions, ratings etc have fawned over Collingwood and how they have ‘answered every challenge’.

In the latest ‘power rankings’ (I know..) they say ‘We’ve seen over the past two weeks you can limit the Magpies, and in different ways - the Lions just tried to beat them at their own shootout game, whereas the Saints dragged them into their preferred slower style of footy.’

No, the Lions beat them.

I know you can’t expect anything better from the Fox group.

I was going to post the same... it really is eye rolling, sycophantic brown nosing of the highest order from the media towards the Magpies and it seems coordinated between media outlets, they all go with the same narrative.

When we get beaten we have been "exposed", when the Pies get beaten it's an aberration, a Lions flag anytime is delicious, one this year would be a delightful cherry on top middle finger to the footy media.

Agree 100%. Although they will say that we need to beat them at the MCG to have more meaning.

The other ridiculous thing on On the Couch was a 2x2 matrix of defence and offence ratings. There are 17 other teams and we have only played 5/17 teams at different venues under different conditions at this stage.

If you take the Port game out of the picture, our defensively profile doesn’t look too bad.
It was interesting what Fages said this morning, looking back, going into the Port game he was a bit concerned that the players thought it was just going to happen.

In the long run it's good that they got shown up that day, big wake up call.:trophy:

I would love nothing more than handing Collingwood their third GF loss to the Lions this century, just to stick it up the AFL, I mean VFL media.
