Fair point i hadn't clocked him as that quick! Although there are always some surprising top speeds. The speed that would worry me more is pace off the mark, i'd have thought Curnow would be much quicker there? And i am certain our CC would be quicker in that regard!

I would still play Payne on Curnow as Curnow seems much more mobile eg gathering the ball baulking a couple then kicking a goal. McKay seems to be much more about marks and Andrews with his reach would be better placed to affect that.
Curnow very quick off the first 5m but McKay is wayyyyy faster at top speed. McKay is maybe our fastest player, saw a YT video with Prime Train where McKay clocked in with a top speed of something like 37.5KM/H during a sprint. May've even been 38KM/H. He is freaky fast.

Agree re Pittonet. Crucial for you guys, seems very influential when up and going. Oscar will never be A grade but can have some good games. Has been a bit handball-to-nobody happy lately, but now fox footy has highlighted it maybe the coach has too!
Along with Witts, I reckon big Oscar is the most underrated ruckman in the AFL. Just quietly goes about his job, rarely gets beaten.

Pitto got his work cut out this week, although has been in some great recent form.

The reason I dont like it, is that I believe against top 6-8 teams it will simply not work. Your last line is true, we have the best two best talls out of the Demons and us, but their small/mid sized forwards are always better. We have too many eggs in to few forward baskets.

You need both sets to be contributing, as Demons found out last year, when McDonald went down and as the Cats proved last year, when their talls and smalls contributed. Tigers had the mix right for their seasons of excellence as well, then we go back to West Coast same.
It was a tough weekend to be a Carlton small forward with CC marking everything kicked I50.

IMO, it might be best for him to focus on consistently practicing the same techniques he's been working on during training, whether it's drop punts, banana kicks, or something else. He doesn't look as confident and clearly suffers the yips. It happens..and he'll get over it.

First game where I thought you could actually notice Honeys pace, where he put some pressure on at times, that being said I think he for Motlop is the go. Keep Kennedy as the sub. Cripps and Dunkley to go head to head and if we can negate him at the source we're a real chance. Newman or Saad on Charlie and for the love of god dont let him get out the back cherry picking and then celebrating like hes done all the hard work

He always kicks them in the left side. And he always misses.

Either he changes his kicking action, tries a new method, or stops lesding there altogether. It is really going to cost us at the wrong time.

The problem is, he doesn't kick them enough from the right, or straight in front, so he doesn't practice them enough. So he doesn't have the confidence or routine when kicking from the left.

All in Harry’s head, he was an exquisite kick early days, beautiful ball drop and action was kicking them from everywhere…
FFS get him a professional kicking coach, Big Sav it’s the CFC we need your expertise… 📱
Some old news but an astonishing response if so.
“Harry said no, he said ‘Nah, I’m right I’ve got it all covered,’

He always does it and always does it differently after hesitation. It's gotta become a routine to rely on. Fast bowlers don't shit their pants when a left armer comes out to bat. They just have a different routine for over/around the wicket. Harry needs routines to rely on. So he doesn't think.

So reached out to Harry back in the Teague years, he was kicking a lot better back then although like Fev said everyone can improve a little even if it’s only on a small scale, probably wouldn’t have hurt just to catch up and have a chat listen then go on from there…
He certainly needs to seek someone out atm because he’s natural kicking action/method he once had has been effected by the heavy reliance on the snap action, it’s stuffed his once one wood completely up…

We have different memories of Harry. I can never recall him kicking well on the left side of the ground toward goal. Which year are you thinking he did that?

Yep - left side was always not as good as right side - however left side has deteriorated to way below acceptable from average -inevitably this will flow on to right side kicks as well - he seems supremely confident with any right side snap from 40 meters out or closer - less so with drop punt. It is no doubt a mental thing although every player has a preferred side of goal to kick - except for the truly elite. Fortunately his field kicking is still good enough for a CHF role.

The left side problem has been an issue for at least a year- I remember making a post asking why he ever leads to that side ...Haqwkins went through similar major issues and became one of teh best kicks if not teh best kick in the game afterwards - either side.

I think Harry needs a better routine/run up. Seems like he is only going off a few steps
Needs a better and consistent routine for sure. He should also pre-meditate his decisions and stick to them before the game.
Eg:
1) if he marks in right pocket within 35m he snaps,
2) within 15m on the left pocket, he snaps with his other foot.
3) Everywhere else is a drop punt.

We as supporters sigh whenever he marks on the left pocket. How loud do you think his own internal mental demons are?
