Does anyone know if there is a limit to how many selections you can have?

is there anything hypothetically stopping us from

retiring/delisting
Shuey
Hurn
Nicnat
Rotham
Foley
West
Clarke
Winder
O'Neill
Trew

and then using picks
2, 21, 27, 40, 46, 58, 76, 77, 78, 79

Not saying we should necessarily do it, just want to know if we can do it?
You don't wanna be stuck with a bunch of ultra speculative picks for 2 years. That's what the rookie draft and SSP is for.
We'll only take up to 6 in the ND and fill any remaining spots with rookies.

Anyone heard any news on Kade Ditmar was a gun in his draft year don’t get why every passed up on him. Wouldn’t mind him in the MSD.
i can answer that.Has had trouble establishing himself in the east perth league side.He has played a few games this year but not as a midfielder but as a small defender.I think he is a long way from playing afl at the minute.

If he wants to play at a side where he’ll get a regular league berth, I know of one club that’s pretty desperate for players at the moment…

What are the chances of 58-79 all being flops? I’d guess a pretty high chance. Better off trading a player of two or bringing forward future picks so you have selections in rounds 1-3.
I’m only guessing but it’s more likely the club will continue with a more moderate approach and turn the main list over by 4 to 6 players for the next 2-3 years.
We brought 9 new players in the 2022 MSD and ND.

I can see us taking 5 in the main draft, possibly Robertson as a trade and delisting a few with a “let’s see after the rookie draft”

Of the last 2 years drafting, the only concern I have at this stage is Chesser and more do to do with ability to get on the park. Patience is needed.

If we add 2 in the MSD, it will signal a harder end of season cull

You're missing a few names. Jack Williams and SPS are both without a contract.

West, Trew & Winder are rookies so those last three picks aren't in the national draft. Not sure all three go, we might move Jack Williams to the rookie list if he's retained at all.

I definitely believe the first three should retire & Clarke, O'Neill, Foley are all probably gone.

I think we'll keep Rotham for 24. He might get a go at Hurns role next year.

Reckon Shuey and Hurn retire but NicNat stays on the books for mentoring and the occasional game, Clark, O'Neil, and Foley gone, West, Winder and Trew also gone, allowing three to be moved on to the rookie list. LEdwards also at risk, with Petrucelle an option to trade if anyone interested. That's eight or nine list spots, though you could trade one or two in.

Not a single name there is a very good player lol

Hasn't been an issue for us lately.

Sharp would an significant huge upgrade on West, Winder, Trew and definitely on Clarke if we insist on ruining any possibility of him succeeding by playing him on the outside as a wingman.

Have West, Winder and Trew maxed out their allowed years on the rookie list? If there was even a glimmer of hope for them, taking up a senior spot is probably not even remotely on the cards.

Gaff should be added to the list of retirements, negotiate an early contract termination. Our esteemed Eagles insider BOND 007 claimed Gaff was moved to an inside mid role because he was seen as a liability on the outside. But the man can't play inside! Add to it his lack of penetration with his kicks and what is the arguement to keep him?

I see West’s name mentioned as a delist but I don’t think that’ll happen, he will continue on as depth ..
His game v Richmond had a few highlights plus he kicked a few goals one coming from a great roving effort from a stoppage ..

He's not even playing league at the moment for Claremont.
Cause he's returning from a broken leg. But he was quite well rated last year, some predicted second round before his leg break. Seems to be returning well so could be the equivalent of a free national draft pick in the late 20s, early 30s.

Rotham is contracted until 2024 so I see him 100% on the list.

SPS looks to have done enough to suggest he will be there in 2024. That said, I would see a delist and shift to the rookie list

J Williams is a real option to go on the rookie list - and yes I would retain him. Some small risk he gets picked up not likely. Witherden is another out of contract player liable to go the delist/re-rookie

Retire (2)
Yes to both Hurn and Shuey
NicNat is contracted and I cannot see the club playing it tough

Delist
Main list (2)
- Clark
- Foley
- XON
Rookie list (3)
- Trew
- West
- Winder

Move from main to rookie
- SPS, J Williams and Witherden

Move from rookie to main list
- Culley

If we get Robertson in a trade, likely to be with Port's R3 pick (around 57/58). If Lions play tough, just walk him to the PSD. That may reduce by 1 we take in the draft.

Agree - Claremont are doing a good job nursing Gilbey back. He has retained his poise and skills - now he needs to get the confidence up, build back his tank and put on some size. None of these were going to happen in rehab.

Besides the half back line is particularly strong at Tigerland. Mountford plays mid and flank and has spent the first few games in ressies only just cracked back in the top team.

In good time. As good as both Butters and Rozee are, they are the peripheral midfielders who are being given a lot of ball.

Not that they can't win it, their talents are best suited to getting the ball into dangerous places. Against us Rozee sat forward of the stoppage the entire game and was fed the ball with no resistance.

Hopefully we can add that type or player or Burgiel can be something like that for us in the future.

There was nothing peripheral about Rozee on the weekend.

Won his own ball in the middle when game was on the line and was key to Ports win.

He’s a star and a significant upgrade on Butters.
