That’s such a stoopid rule.

West Perth gave us Connor West for the second half of 2021 after we drafted him.

We probably gave them some cash to make it happen.

What's the goss on Callum AhChee not playing AFL ?and contract status .
That’s another can of worms on our board.

We believe he’s out of contract, but we’re not sure.

He married a local girl, and that was his stated reason why he signed with us when he left Gold Coast. He wanted to stay in SEQ.

I’m pretty sure Ah Chee and Cockatoo are part of the extended Coleman clan that live towards the bay, and not around where a lot of the rest of the boys live. (As an aside, Daniher bought a country property in northern NSW and has a 2 hour+ commute each day)

Most on our board would have Ah Chee as the sub almost every week, as he can play across all three lines, and he’s a solid player.

When Rich went down, there were quite a few posters who wanted Ah Chee in.

My personal view is that his best spot is as a pressure forward/high half forward. Which is the role McCarthy plays.

He’s very good depth at this point, and would be in the 23 to 30 range on our list.

Knowing how our list manager works, we’re more than likely happy to keep Ah Chee on the list as mature depth for as long as he’s content with his position in the squad. He’d be on a minimum contract or close to it.

He’s unlikely to be best 22 in the future, but he’d have a list spot until he’s 30, if he wants it.

He’s taken on feedback and thankfully briztoon is not posting any more piss poor posts anymore😂😂
You’re still a bad team. But most of you have come to accept where you’re at, and taking a positive approach to your eventual rise back up the ladder.

About a player who is looking more and more likely to be traded to us this year.

A player we have been discussing for two years.

What are you adding?

Post had nothing to do with a trade or our club. Brisbane and Robertson was bought up unrelated when another poster mentioned the opposing team in the VFL game.

Meanwhile I look at Port and their draft rebuild of 2018/19 with Rozee, Butters, Duursma, Georgiades, Mead and Bergman all coming through in a 2 year block.

I am hoping that is what we will see with Chesser, Hough, Bazzo, Ginbey, Hewett, Barnett, Burgiel, Long and the 2023 cohort.

If we can emerge out of this year's draft with another 4 very good prospects, then we are a long way in the rebuild.
Unfortunately Butters and less so Rozee seem a level above what we could expect from the guys we have picked up. Butters is an absolute star IMO. It’d be nice if our blokes actually got on the park to get an idea of what they could achieve though..

Someone mentioned Harely Reid's performance in this game as BOG. A player we have been discussing using pick 1 on.

Our friend corrected that BOG comment saying Robertson was BOG with 31 possessions. Another mid we have been discussing for a very long time. Ive even exchanged posts with Briztoon on the Lions Draft Trade thread about Robertson, as have others.

Give it a break.

In good time. As good as both Butters and Rozee are, they are the peripheral midfielders who are being given a lot of ball.

Not that they can't win it, their talents are best suited to getting the ball into dangerous places. Against us Rozee sat forward of the stoppage the entire game and was fed the ball with no resistance.

Hopefully we can add that type or player or Burgiel can be something like that for us in the future.

The fitness levels of the players this year have improved, but are still not up to AFL level which will lead to a lot of the soft tissue injuries. The club has no players that are of any value to any other clubs which limits us on getting extra draft picks we need to speed up our rebuild. Its going to take time to get a team together to be competitive. I can understand why they held onto there aging group as they just won a GF and by adding another midfielder like Tim Kelly we may have been able to compete for another Gf. It just didn't work out and now we are stuck with a number of aging players that should have been retired or moved on in the past few years. Unfortunately we lost Culley for the year and we will have to mid season draft picks which we need to use on young players and then go hard at the draft this year. We need to move some players on to get further draft picks.

Does anyone know if there is a limit to how many selections you can have?

is there anything hypothetically stopping us from

retiring/delisting
Shuey
Hurn
Nicnat
Rotham
Foley
West
Clarke
Winder
O'Neill
Trew

and then using picks
2, 21, 27, 40, 46, 58, 76, 77, 78, 79

Not saying we should necessarily do it, just want to know if we can do it?

What are the chances of 58-79 all being flops? I’d guess a pretty high chance. Better off trading a player of two or bringing forward future picks so you have selections in rounds 1-3.
I’m only guessing but it’s more likely the club will continue with a more moderate approach and turn the main list over by 4 to 6 players for the next 2-3 years.

There’s no limit to how many draft picks are used

I will note however that 2 of those players (Naitanui and Rotham) are contracted so would need to be paid out impacting our salary cap

Also, West, Winder and Trew are on the rookie list so their positions would need to filled through the rookie draft not the main draft

5 picks? Enough of a spread to maybe jag one lucky one.

Agree, but the only non-recently drafted players we have with some value are Ryan and Barrass.

There's a saying that every pick after round 1 is pick 18. While there's an element of truth, the draft does fade away like you expect. So at the very bottom of the draft - hardly any good players.

I’m only guessing but it’s more likely the club will continue with a more moderate approach and turn the main list over by 4 to 6 players for the next 2-3 years.
it's what they'll no doubt do and it would be the best way to do it. We have to save some of the players so we have someone to delist next year.
