So Culley out means the club have a possible 3 positions they can open up in the next couple of weeks - Culley, Cripps and Winder.

Cole and Ryan are options but I feel Cole needs to get some footy in at the back of the season if possible. At least WAFL if he can as he showed signs of hesitation and rustiness with 2022 being all in rehab. Ryan - similar in that he needs to get some confidence and he will do more of that if playing.

I know there are some that still have faith in Winder. I am not with them as the likelihood of success feels remote. I would love to be proven wrong.

5 games to go before the bye. It feel like we might get more kids to choose from in the next 3 weeks but little top line established players returning. I can see us getting to round 15 with a 13-1 record.

Given we have the game in Launceston, I hope we take precaution so that we rest Oscar with his knee, possibly give Kelly the week off for general soreness, rest Jack with his sore back. In other words, show Hawthorn "Anything you can do we can do better".

After the Hawks, our 13 remaining fixtures are Sydney at SCG (ouch), 9 games against current top 10 clubs, a derby and Norf at home. We should have some players back but it still feels like it may just be 1 more win (Norf).

New forward line of Jamieson at FF and Waterman at CHF.
In: Jackson Nelson, Hamish Brayshaw and Alec Waterman.

WC have reportedly been keeping tabs on Narkle .
Claremont duo Ben Edwards and Jack Buller have also caught their interest in the past 12 months .
Edwards has dash , speed to help our game plan .
I have liked Ben Edwards development at Claremont and agree he would add decent dash. He is hard at it and pretty good speed away from the contest. That said, it feel like his ceiling would be pretty low. He is 24 meaning he is the same age as West and pretty much on a talent level as West. He would be a pick to bolster the Beagles. I would rather give Gilbey a chance.

The stupid thing is there's logic in it.
Senior experienced blokes, especially with Nelson, to help carry the workload in the middle. It's not as if we have enough fit kids to blood right now

Unless the rules have changed, my understanding is any WAFL player(s) picked in the MSD draft by West Coast would need permission to play for the Beagles from the WAFL side

Lots of talk about improving the "bottom of our list".

You've got limited list spots and if you've got 26 available players you're forced to use players in ways you would otherwise have no intention of doing. Unless a player fills a specific need then you're not improving your list, you're just cluttering it with redundant players in valuable list positions.

Narkle is an on-ball midfielder and has been since Colts with Perth. He's not getting midfield minutes at AFL level even with our injuries, & you're not replacing Petruccelle with Narkle playing forward and improving as a side.

Yes , But

We need solid midfielders who can take the hits and protect our young draftees , Narkle could maybe fill a role for a few years we cannot just throw 18 yr old kids into AFL midfields , need to take care that's why Clark , West , Trew can help be sacrificial lambs if you want .
Duggan playing some midfield time helps ...

I agree. It's a waste of time swapping out bottom of the list players for known quantity slightly better players.

Go to draft > draft in a shit ton of players over a 5 rear period (2021 - 2025) > depending on how good your elite players are while influence how good your bottom players are

Duggan, Barass, OA, B.Williams
Chez, Hough, Bazzo, J.Williams,
Culley, Ginbey, Hewitt, Barnet, Burgiel, Long

Potentially some players above will end up bottom enders. Potentially some players from the next 3 drafts will be bottom enders.

No point actively recruiting a bottom enders. Go the draft, guess the best players you can. Take as many dips in the lucky dip as you can. those bottom enders are plentiful. No need to go out and actively recruit them. That's nuts.

You build a list top down.

Narkle isn't exactly a big bodied defensive type.

Dev Robbo, Duggan, Hunt, SPS. I'd rather these guys in there and take a punt on a 19 year old.
