Not sure if Jones is ready after two games. Probably depends on how much work he had on the track before playing.

If he’s ready to go though he comes in.

Probably need a bit of a shake up with selection. Our desperation has disappeared, let’s see if some different personal can help change that?
If it's a 50/50 call, I hope we just take the risk and play him. We need to go all out to try and fix this midfield.

I know everyone on here hates Hill but if he doesn't get up for this weekend, structurally thats a big shift/adjustment. I personally think he runs all day and is the main architect behind our running play - with possible Ross, Hill, Battle outs what are our best replacements? Does King Cordy get a run or do we back Sharman in? (If I recall he also went off late in the last qtr injured). Jones/JB underdone get a go???

As long as he's fit, I hope we back Sharman in. He's looked good in the few quarters he's played in defence this year and Melbourne generally don't play a super tall backline. He deserves the full game.

How many coaches votes for Owens now?

Billings to play hff, Jones into the midfield and Ross onto a wing.

23 handball!
Be nice if we could see a meters gained stat on there, they seem to leave it blank
I fell asleep but he looked ok from what i saw.

Certainly be interesting to see if he is given another week in the twos or comess straight back in

Did he play the whole game?
They don't show the TOG stat either on the afl sitrsite

He wins his own footy which would be a nice start. He looks exactly like what we are missing. If they are planning on delisting him at the end of the year, we might as well blow him up when we need him.

I watched the VFL match, and for all the stats it doesn't really tell the story.

Paton's stats are inflated over his impact on the game.
Jones and Heath the only shining lights.
Our defense was able to defend well in the air but leaked goals at ground level.
Highmore didn't catch the eye, positively or negatively.
Billings looked likely at times but needs to win more of his own ball. Perhaps the missing link delivering into F50 we need.
Cordy looked solid and would fit well in our back 6.
Game standard so poor you wouldn't want your gun kids developing in that side.

So I think, against Melbourne:
Cordy for Battle
Jones for Ross or Hill (if injured), or Byrnes (if they're fit)

And the following week, Heath and Peris to debut.

I would be pretty surprised if we don't lose this by 30+ points. We have lost all run and dare.

We are really going to struggle to kick 10 goals against the Dees.

They have a dodgy forward line but they are going to absolute torch us through the middle and our defensive unit has been very ordinary of late. Unless they kick 5.25 we are not winning this game.

I can't see it happening, mate, but that would outstanding. Yes, it would be a very St Kilda type of thing.
The midfield has to eventually click. Would be the perfect game for it all to fall into place. That being said, this is St Kilda, so it'll probably never fall into place.

No idea how we play the changes this week. Battle definitely out, probably Sharman. Hill and Ross sound likely to miss, hopefully Clark and Jones to replace them. But that leaves the issue of Caminiti rucking against Grundy and Gawn which is the stuff of nightmares. Maybe Cordy gets a run?

Only way I see us winning is an an absolute scrap.

I hope this is finally the week we see some changes to the best 22. It's time.

We need to do something different up forward. May and Lever are going to have a field day if go out with the same set up we've been sticking too that we know doesn't work and only leads to opposition defenders dominating. I'd rather we try something different and it fails than roll out the same poor set up.

Not sure about Lever having a field day they have their issues with our forwards.

King > May, Caminiti > Petty & Lever must pick up Owens his 4 goals has changed the landscape for them otherwise I’d agree he would ignore our 3rd tall but not now.

I know Ross doesn't like the idea of playing two ruckmen but it seems the perfect time to pick either Campbell or Heath to ruck in tandem with Marshall.

I would prefer that to going with Cordy again who isn't a proper ruckman and will probably get towelled up by Gawn and Grundy like Caminiti would.

The other benefit of picking Campbell or Heath is that would they give us another tall marking target up forward to help take some of the heat off King.
