Very disappointing today. His kicking is lacking so much. Not just today, but the whole season. Lacks penetration and effectiveness. I thought this was meant to be one of his strengths - but it doesn't just look like he is scrapping a few here and there, his kicking just seems as a rule ineffectual. Hopefully he can improve.
He will need to possess a few elite traits if he is to become a serious player. The hard in and under is great as he has shown this year across some games - but if he doesn't have those other elite skills in his game, he will be forever condemned to being an average player.
I know it is a slow burn with him, but the one worry for me is that as compared to LDU who was also a slow burn, he always showed that flair, the side stepping, the burst, etc etc. in his early years. What is Will Phillips' edge?

Spot onFFS you campaigners are reactionary. He was “slow and stout” and a bust for a bit and then the second coming of cunners for three games and now he’s had a quiet one he’s back to a bust. * me. He had a dirty day, we lost by 10 goals, it happens. Will will be fine. Worry about the players who are meant to be “leading” him.
At his size and speed, WP needs something VERY special about him (eg. C Daniel) to be an A Grader at AFL level.
Sure, he can play the game, but will he be the A Grade mid we are desperate for? I’m not convinced.

Don't bring sensible posts into this thread.I'd get him watching footage of Lachie Neale over the pre-season. That's the workrate and elite hands/kicking he needs to get to long term.
He'll do the work, I know that much. 2026 will be the year to judge Will I feel, 2 big pre-seasons without interruptions and 70+ games under his belt.
Bang on brotherFFS you campaigners are reactionary. Slipped in the food court?Just seen footage of Phillips with his head bandaged and a massive cut under his eye on Ch 7 sports.
Copped an errant elbow from Paul Curtis in a tackling incident. Went in for scans to check for structural damage.Slipped in the food court?
