As I said in the game day thread he had a shit game, and sometimes that happens.

A lot of blokes had shit games. I'm more concerned about the players half a decade older with 5 times as many games to their name, than I am with Will.

Unless this is his norm for a few weeks, or a young mid like Powell starts racking up great figures in the VFL, then just keep on pumping the games into him. Experience and preseasons are what he needs, and we can only supply him with one of those right now.

Very disappointing today. His kicking is lacking so much. Not just today, but the whole season. Lacks penetration and effectiveness. I thought this was meant to be one of his strengths - but it doesn't just look like he is scrapping a few here and there, his kicking just seems as a rule ineffectual. Hopefully he can improve.

He will need to possess a few elite traits if he is to become a serious player. The hard in and under is great as he has shown this year across some games - but if he doesn't have those other elite skills in his game, he will be forever condemned to being an average player.

I know it is a slow burn with him, but the one worry for me is that as compared to LDU who was also a slow burn, he always showed that flair, the side stepping, the burst, etc etc. in his early years. What is Will Phillips' edge?

Another player, like Harry, who is struggling to handle the serious pressure that the better teams exert. Will has time on his side to adjust to it. This is his first “proper” season.

Caleb Daniel is listed as 168cm (probably shorter).
Will Phillips is 180cm. Plenty of players are 180cm.
