Kemp has been brilliant since coming back into the side plays his role perfectly, it’s no coincidence that once Young has been essentially swapped out the backline for the much more mobile kemp that Weitering’s form has improved dramatically and is back to dominating games.
Kemp and McGoverns speed and mobility helps cover Weitering’s one massive weakness which is leg speed it may be hard to see watching on television but at the game you can really see how these three are communicating and covering for each other extremely well. Kemp and Gov also improve our ball movement dramatically out of the backline I would give it a less than zero percent chance that Durdin or Young replace Kemp in the back 6/7 anytime soon.

Fisher: stays out for mine, our recent resurgence has been on the back of an intensity that seems beyond him.
I would only bring Fisher in ahead of Honey but there are a few ahead of him if everyone is fit

Unless they have elite attributes elsewhere, I'm hesitant to bring players with a questionable appetite for the opponent/ball. (I might be a little harsh on this one)

Kemp: I see this both ways. He's quite raw & has a few errors in him atm but we do seem a more cohesive unit with him back there. I don't see Young or Marchbank as better options, unless there's something specific the coaches want him to go back & work on.

Marchbank and Young have the better IQ, Kemp has the better level of aggression

Paddy Dows game.

21 disposals with 15 kicks and 6 handballs
8 inside 50's
7 clearances
4 centre clearances (game high)
11 contested posessions
6 score involvements
569 metres gained (team high)

The Disposal isnt always clean (52.9%) but he does damage. Oh and he kicked a goal.

Not sure I've seen a dart to a leading fwd from him since he lost a tooth in his first practice match

And the goal, the ball would have barely hit his foot 5 years ago.

Still needs to be better but his disposal is much better than it was a few years ago.

He still won't be on the list next year imo (and fair enough)

Stats without vision is pointless

Missed easy targets, sold players into trouble, still poor defensively

Even with 2 of the fab 5 out, he doesn't play IMHO

I really like the things he does well…burst away sidestep and quick hands.

I’d like him to work on tackling and defensive running.

Perhaps you two could offer up some opinion or analysis rather than playing the poster
I like your posts usually Arrow. But I think we both know Kemp as the second tall defender has been one of the structural changes that has influenced our run of form.

19 disposals
5 intercept possessions
11 marks (2 contested)
8 spoils
2 rebounds
3 turnovers

I don’t think we have any other player on the list that would contribute more at CHB.

Wait until he’s played a full season before we start worrying about his odd Clanger.

Fair call & I see where you're coming from.
Tbh I'd have Kemp as the smartest player of the three.
He can be a little slow in assessing his options from a mark but I'm much more comfortable with him creating something off broken play than the other two, who are more inclined to opt for high percentage, safe plays that lack the attacking punch that we'd like, experience will assist him in knowing when to go fast & when to slow the game.
Appreciate your views mate,
Cheers

Not saying he should be dropped, saying that he still makes simple fundamental errors, while having moments of brilliance

Still needs to have a defensive first mindset before taking a more aggressive position

Needs to watch tapes of Weitering

You need to keep in mind he hasn't started in the seniors for a while. Takes time to pick up the difference in pace. I do agree he needs to be better defensively.

I kind of get the vibe he’s been encouraged to use his naturally aggressive game.

Who knows

We couldn’t, could we?
I mean the last month or so has been great but this seems a bit out of our reach.
Melb, Saints I can see it but this mob are flying.
I can see it. Why not. Except I was seeing it with a few more 'ins' than we might have available.
See how the week unfolds.

Given the injuries and players struggling

Cripps - Dow
Cerra - Walsh
Martin - Mots
Young/Pitto - Jsos

Honey lucky but might get replaced by Fisher

Kemp also lucky, considering his extremities

Marchbank or S Durdin will be considered for Cowan

Can't believe we could have 6 changes, not great going into a game against the Pies
Kemp was our best defender today.

OUT: Silvagni (inj), Motlop (inj), Walsh (inj), Young (omitted), Honey (omitted)

IN: Cripps, Cerra, Pittonet, Owies, Martin

I can't believe I'm suggesting Ed Curnow retains his spot. But unless Binns can play on the HFF we've got no-one else.
We gonna tag the Daicos prodigy?
