Specialist forwards who pass the ball when in range infuriate me. It’s their bloody job to take responsibility and kick the goal.

In other games I’ve seen the same players such as Marshall go back and kick goals from similar positions even when team mates offer up leads.
It’s not a coaching directive it’s players passing the buck.
However lord should have passed off to jhf when he came past. Kid can contest but makes Butcher look like peak Lockett

I didn't expect to win with our outs but we really could've won if not for the same mistakes week in week out in front of goal.

The first 7 minutes of the last quarter when we dominating but kicked points you just knew we were going to pay and sure enough we did. Always the same shit.

That bad miss by wines in the last really hurt, he couldn’t hit the side of a barn door.

They're the official numbers. You can't just pretend they're wrong because they don't align with the made up football game you were watching in your head. I bet McEntee had more than zero tackles in that game too.
Yes but there are the wrong stats. There are specific stats for turnovers and pressure acts which you can find for free on the AFL site.

Burgoyne had 3 turnovers, McEntee had 16 pressure acts

I honestly do think you will at least make a prelim at minimum if not grand final. You didn’t win 13 in a row for nothing. 4 losses in a row is just how an even season such as this will roll at times. It isn’t a write off situation.

2014: 11-2… Lost away PF
2018: 11-4… 10th
2020: 15-3… Lost home PF
2021: 18-5… Lost home PF
2023: 14-2…

If only this was our first rodeo.

Funny when Rozee expected Jonas to be an afl player and run into space, and then the ball goes out of bounds when Rozee handballs into said space because Jonas didn’t run there. I know we don’t have many options but Jonas must be close to last selected now.

He let him know about it too.

Kinda funny how our own shitball stinkly culture has made so many club greats turn their back on us. We sure could of used a matthew lloyd or a nick riewoldt to come to the club and help with goal kicking and mental strength. Oh wait we do have them in jay schulz and warren tredrea only for them not to give us a second thought due to treating them like garbage

No way either of those two pass off a shot at goal the way todd did tonight

Umpires were shitty, sure. Super shitty.

But when you have times like when Xavier Duursma decides to run past a mark that's 55m out for a handball receive... on the left side... so he has no angle to kick on his preferred foot and then kicks it directly to a Geelong player in the only pocket he can aim for...

You just have to realise that dumb football is what affects the result of a game the most.

And that's just one isolated incident, not trying to pick on Xavier. There were many. We may have been down a lot of "first 22 players"... but a lot of the "first 22 players" that were there weren't doing things for the betterment of our team.

We pissed that one away.

But also... the classic dominate inside 50s for much of the match with no reward on the scoreboard. It's awful to watch and Ken's gotta go for that very reason. He may have some sorta stats or numbers that back up that style of play, but it's what makes supporters tear their hair out and why we're not going to win a flag any time soon.

Like the rest of this pantomime season, I didn't watch a minute of the game because I seriously don't give a shit anymore.

But I did watch the Adelaide Roller Derby grand final. Mile Die Club cruised to a 36 point win over The Good Ship Salty. Girl Rex Door was the MVP. She was unstoppable. Bionic Mayhem won my heart tho.

Anyway, shout-out to "Riot the Ref" for rocking lace-up Prison Bars as a referee uniform, the most Port Adelaide thing I've seen in a long time...

This Road Train Roller must be a Crows supporter, wearing that number with those colours, or she's srsly taking the piss, lol...

Clangers aren't the same as turnovers. Kick it 50 metres down the line to a pack and the contest happens to be won by the other team and that's a turnover. A clanger is a turnover where the player disposing of the ball is at fault (i.e they kicked it directly to the opposition as opposed to just kicking it to a contest the opposition happened to win). Burgoyne had zero of those. Every other non-sub on the field had at least one.

As for McEntee, do you say '16 pressure acts' like that supposed to be impressive? That's just, like, a normal amount of pressure acts for a small forward to have. Other teams have small forwards who have 16 pressure acts a game but also get the ball and kick goals.

From the small forwards who played in tonight's game alone, Gryan Miers and Brad Close both average 20 pressure acts a game. SPP averages 17. Unlike McEntee, those guys also contribute offensively. And DBJ averages 18 despite spending his first four games in defence and despite being subbed in or out of games twice, so even if we decide for some reason that we must have a small forward spud who doesn't kick goals but applies lots of pressure, McEntee still isn't even the best option on our list for that.

I'm actually really glad Powerade has directed me to this, because I've always suspected that McEntee isn't actually much better than average at defensive pressure, and now I've got the numbers to prove it.

McEntee isn't even in the top 100 players in the AFL for pressure acts per game. He's 127th.

From small forwards alone, the following players are all ahead of him: Toby Bedford, Jamie Cripps, Nick Holman, Sam Switkowski, Xavier O'Halloran, Alex Neal-Bullen, Matteas Phillipou, Lachie Schulz, Brad Close, Gryan Miers, Kossie Pickett, Dan Butler, Jack Graham, Brent Daniels, Lachie Fogarty, Arthur Jones, Liam Ryan, Darcy Byrne-Jones, Sam Wicks, Corey Durdin, Riley Garcia, Daniel Lloyd, Lincoln McCarthy, Beau McCreery, David Cuningham, Sam Powell-Pepper, Matt Guelfi, Izak Rankine.

So this thing that he's supposedly 'elite' at, there's nearly 30 small forwards in the league who do it better than him. Which is a hell of a lot considering there are only about 50-60 small forwards getting a game league wide every week.

His defensive pressure isn't elite, it's just adequate. And adequate defensive pressure shouldn't be anywhere near enough to keep him in the side when he's offering absolutely zilch offensively.

Dumb football is bang on. We had several occasions where a player flew for a contest when Geelong were kicking out of defence only to have their direct opponent stay on the ground and waltz away with it.

Our transition defence was bad and has been bad 2 weeks in a row, so many silly, low percentage decisions.

It's Jake Neade's final season all over again. No impact but keeping his spot for "pressure" that isn't actually doing a lot.

That was the most blatant cheat I've ever seen. Almost unbelievable how disgusting the bias was. And Ken ****ing Hinkley having a ****ing giggle with Dangerfield straight after the game GO **** YOURSELF.
Honestly wondering why I even bother with this ****ing stupid "competition" anymore. It's not a level playing field. I just feel dumber and dumber with every passing week I put any time in to this shit.

Respective of the outs for both teams, we snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.

We do it too often. All the missed chances in the early moments of the last - same as the Collingwood game.

Infuriating.

When you’re that close you have to win in. Come a prelim at the G against a Collingwood if we don’t kick those goals and silence the crowd we simply play catch up.
