$1900 plus looking at $3-4K for an implant and my private health insurance has reached its limit. Lucky my dentist for normal stuff is a friend and doesn't charge me much. However specialists almost put their own price on treatment.

Could have had a nice holiday.

Ever since I was a little kid have had a phobia about dentures. Watching people with ill fitting dentures play with them in their mouth looks ugly.
I have no choice but to get dentures due to lack of good bone in my jaws, gosh I wish I could, honestly not looking forward to dentures but it is what it is.
Fingers crossed for you Maggie5

It has been checked. Going to try the third antibiotic (felt better after using the last but relapsed). Don't quite know where to go from here other than get a 2nd opinion. Hate getting older.
TheGreatGrundy a second opinion may be a good thing to do as in an Oral Maxillofacial doctor?

I think you are 100% right , magpie_marty and I intend to get a referral next week - thanks for telling me what these specialists are called as I didn't know. When a dental problem can't be directly linked to a tooth or a lump of gum, dentist get a bit out of their depth, and that's what I am up against. Like you, I have a lack of bone. Implants are not always an option.

Much much cheaper than I thought. I assume not a molar. I am the same regarding dentures. Just started my third lot of antibiotics with which I cannot consume alcohol. I stalled starting till after last night's game but am going to have a problem next Friday night.
The only reason they say you can't drink while taking antibiotics goes back to WW2 & is a fallacy.

Docs told soldiers to stay off the grog so they wouldn't go straight back out, get sloshed, get horny & um spread the problem.

May not be true but it's always been my excuse.

Timely reminder for all the grammar and spelling experts on BF. If the reader can get the gist of the post, let it go.

That sounds like a good story. The birth of Penicillin, or more specifically, its mass production was tied very closely to WW2(specifically D-day) - great story - but that was pretty late in the war and was more about saving blokes who were wounded by bullets, not VD.

Think grog can diminish the effectiveness of some antibiotics, but not all. The general thinking is that grog can diminish your body’s effectiveness to deal with illness, so best off avoiding it whilst you are trying to recover from something.

The exception to this, of course, is for those booze hounds whose bodies would be worse off by going off grog cold Turkey.

TGG, use this information for good, not evil.

And you probably definitely shouldn’t rely on it.

I've always been under the impression that antibiotics amplify the the intoxicating effects of grog .. ie you get more sloshed.

It may be totally untrue but it's sure served me well as a go to excuse in the past after a few BOG performances while out and about..

We've lost our top spot defensively - not helped by two Jeremy Cameron out of bounds goals!

Definitely don’t drink alcohol if taking metronidazole (aka Flagyl). The side effects are awful enough without the beers and are considerably worse with. Dentists often prescribe Flagyl. I reckon I would chance the odd drink with Amoxicillin.

On a related topic, have you tried dentists in Thailand?

I have. I tried BDIC, a large hospital-like practice. Dentists specialise in a task, so you get shunted around between them. Didn't suit me because of my complex issues, I like to find someone good and stick to them. If I had an ordinary sort of mouth requiring a bunch of crowns and implants, I would give them a shot, but not for a problem that is difficult to diagnose or where you may not qualify for work due to e.g. lack of bone. For instance, if you only needed an implant, you'd have to visit the country at least twice. The savings on the procedure then may not be worth while chasing. If it's a big job involving multiple teeth, then an OS dentist becomes worthwhile. Or if you just want a scale and clean done at a cheap price.

Like everyone, I have been riveted to the Matildas and the Women’s World Cup.
Bitterly disappointed in the loss.

But why can’t the commentators actually analyse the game?

This game was lost in defence by Carpenter’s inability to deal with a basic long ball.

Why isn’t this being spoken about???

Because we're not allowed to be critical for some reason.

Can only assume because they are women. Carpenter stuffed up. It’s a fact but no slight on her. Soccer can be a harsh game.

Along with the fans.

I love boxing, you fat and pantless f***. And I like to think I'm undumb.

I can't speak for other combat sports, but boxing made peace with brain damage a very long time ago.

That doesn't make it right, and it doesn't justify letting thousands of former fighters dribble their lives away in circumstances which are sadder than those they grew up in, but it's a bargain they all sign up to for the chance at glory.

It's very rare for the very stupid to recognize their very own stupidity.

Once you recognise it in yourself, self-fulfilment you will reach.

And on your deathbed you will receive total consciousness. So you will have that going for you.

wipey i feel like we've achieved a brotherhood long before my deathbed.....unfortunately, our posts will all be long forgotten by tomorrow...
