Corbett kicked 5 yesterday...
High Five GIF

Those that qualify:
1. Stanley
2. Brodie
3. Hamling
4. Corbett
5. Wilson
6. Colyer
7. Emmett
8. Davies
9. Reidy
10. NOD
11. Wagner (played rounds 12/13 and Peel had bye in round 16 so last 8 games are rounds 12-20).
12. Worner (played rounds 12&17 and Peel had bye in round 16 so last 8 games are rounds 12-20).

Also Knobel, Williams, Draper, Benning. All of whom I think will miss out. Knobel and Draper a couple that would be close (Knobel if one of the ruckman suffer an injury and Draper who has been playing reserves after an injury lay-off but could come in with an injury to key defender).

So coming back to Peel this week:

In: Reidy, Wagner, Worner, Emmett, Hamling

Likely outs: Tabs, Knobel, Torrent (Peel), Sturrock (Peel), Anderson or Mathews (Peel)

Some handy ins for the final against Subiaco.

Hopefully Bell is ok to play.

Really feel for Tabs. Much maligned but at his peak fitness he was one of the better CHFs in the league, AA squad material. Just took him years to develop, then injury cruelled him. Poor fella but this has to be it. Back injuries are horrible and are mentally tough as much as physical. I’ve been there. Best of luck Tabs. Time to rest up.

I'd be playing Reidy forward for Tabs and Knobel in the ruck personally. He showed enough to think he can contribute

Also, just quietly, that is a very strong core group of players for the finals. Worner, Emmett and Wagner coming back with AFL experience and confidence sky high (look how Corbett looked coming back from an AFL stint), a bunch of genuine AFL players and couple of promising kids in Stanley and Davies. I'll enjoy watching them each week

Apologies to all the EF supporters, but I really hope Peel goes all the way this year. Would be great for Colyer and Wilson to go out on a high, plus great experience of high pressure games for the likes of Davies, Stanley and Emmett.
The mighty Sharks deserves one

Have battled for years to get back to the top

Hmm, yeah that's hard. Not really any justification to play over any of those names and Smith / Reidy can switch rotate.
Do Wilson and Draper count as part of that 12 being Peel originals??

Either way I can’t see them going too tall. One of Smith/ Reidy to rest forward with Corbett and Middleton. Middleton has been quite good actually. Then I missed Bell who likes a snag and plays taller than he is.

I’d expect Knobel to be in standby (emergency) for Smith who has had some niggles but I’m sure will get up.

Add Bell to the ins and both Anderson/Mathews out.

That's going to be a strong backline with good rebounding quality. Should be winning this one.

Dangerous Thunder looming

Peel Thunder‘s premiership chances shortened significantly when they snuck into third spot with a 10-point win over Swan Districts on Saturday.

The Thunder will have 545 games of AFL experience to call on when they play Subiaco in the qualifying final on Saturday.

With Fremantle not making finals, Peel will have all 14 Dockers who have qualified to play in the WAFL, plus two rookies, Conrad Williams and Max Knobel.

Williams and Knobel didn’t play the six league games required to qualify but have been granted permission to play finals on special request from the Dockers.

This rule is designed to assist the development of young, emerging, or long-term injured players.

Since Peel joined the WAFL in 1997, it has won two premierships, both times from finishes outside of the top two.

It is the only side to do so in the past 26 years.

The Thunder won it all from fourth position in 2016 and from third in 2017.

So, which Dockers are available?

Peel coach Geoff Valentine can field up to 12 Dockers in his side, including the two above-mentioned rookies.

Of the 10 that have played AFL footy, nine of them combined for 45 games at the top level this season, led by 10 games from Nathan O‘Driscoll.

Also available are Joel Hamling, Will Brodie, Travis Colyer, Nathan Wilson, Josh Corbett, Corey Wagner, Karl Worner, Tom Emmett and Ethan Stanley.

Hugh Davies, Josh Draper and Liam Reidy have also qualified, as did forward Sebit Kuek, who is injured. With 25 goals, Kuek is the only Thunder player to have kicked more than 20 goals this season.

So we got Williams and Knobel exemptions to play WAFL but no mention of Benning. That's pretty damning.

Recruiting him in the National Draft has been about as much of a disaster as a pick in 50s can be tbh. One or two senior WAFL games in two years for a senior listed player.

You could argue rather easily someone like Knobel is different too - he's good but being kept put by some good WAFL rucks. Benning is just genuinely no where near the level.
