It looks that way, the assistance package is set up to complete a trade with the SunsGiven the ‘reviewable’ nature of Norths future picks they’re incentivised to trade them out. Could easily offer 14, 18 and F1 to GC for 5.
So basically North will likely get Pick 3 for a B-grade player and Pick 5 out of thin air. Absolutely disgusting.
2, 3 and 5. Our pick doesn't disappear if they get 3 for McKay.To be honest, back to my Chol + Pick 4 scenario and other teams having better offers - can see North trading pick 14 and 19, or even the 2 future firsts they have received for 2024 to GCS for Pick 4 + Chol, makes sense, fills a need for them that they desperately need... Then it gives them...:
Pick 2, 3 and 4.
Boom.
The AFL sign off on all trades and they simply shouldn’t do it in this instance. So surely they’ll just trade their priority picks to GC for pick 4, essentially getting what they wanted (pick 3) anyway.
yep totally agree. What is the point? The AFL sign off on all trades and they simply shouldn’t do it in this instance.
Giving North a package of picks only for them to bundle them up to get a solitary top 5 pick would fly in the face of the assistance being given.
Have a feeling they've been given this suite of picks specifically so they can..The AFL sign off on all trades and they simply shouldn’t do it in this instance.

It may be hard to trade the 2 future firsts if they are subject to review. To be honest, back to my Chol + Pick 4 scenario and other teams having better offers - can see North trading pick 14 and 19, or even the 2 future firsts they have received for 2024 to GCS for Pick 4 + Chol, makes sense, fills a need for them that they desperately need... Nothing is beyond this organisationIt may be hard to trade the 2 future firsts if they are subject to review.
Apparently the 2nd end of 1st will be off the table if they win around 5 plus games . So yes probably would need to tank it.And they either tank in 2024 or they don’t get the end of first round picks.
That screenshot says the future picks will be reviewed next year but they can still use them in trades this year.So surely they’ll just trade their priority picks to GC for pick 4, essentially getting what they wanted (pick 3) anyway.
I don’t see how you can have both. North would surely trade them before they risk having them stripped if they perform well next year.
Said it in one. It's perfect for the AFL.
North gets a high draft pick to potentially use for Sanders.
GC get picks to help match for their 3 Queensland boys.
The AFL gets exactly they want under the facade of a free and open market.

Once they are traded they are no longer subject to review, to me thats why they are more tradeable to North who potentially think they will improve or why else even show up to work?It may be hard to trade the 2 future firsts if they are subject to review.
100% correctI know I'm moaning, but jesus I hate the compensation nonsense.
Norf literally sold themselves into this situation through terrible management, picking non-coaches to head coach positions and axing all their senior players bar Ziebell in one swift move. Instead of reaping what they sow, AFL just rewards poor mismanagement.
Whilst not a complete given, based on how slow development can be, if you load them up now, it almost becomes a shoe-in they become way too stacked in a few years time. Just utter reactionism from AFL and compromising the draft completely this year.
Those in finals are getting the absolute dregs from this years draft.
With all the academy picks & compensation nonsense - West Coast's second pick is going to be close to pick 30 at this rate, which is just shocking after the season they had.
How the rest of the clubs are just eating this without even so much as a peep is beyond me. I'd be absolutely fuming.
