Hello Shinboners!

The embedded resources below are kept up to date by the trade board mods (as much as possible – we are human after all). Enjoy!

Devon Robertson vs WCE..

Fish Bass GIF
Carp do grow pretty big - but only fit for fertiliser

What did he say?
In short:
That he has world class attributes that he hasn't had a chance to show due to breaking bones.
Said he is a nightmare to play on at training, whoever has to comes off with bruises, scrapes and cuts because he hits you so hard.
Needs a run of 40-50 games and he will start to pull games apart.

He gets beaten in every contest when he's playing against a key forward-sized key forward. Often he makes you think "oh gee he did ok there" because he almost competes in a matchup he has absolutely no chance of winning. But this is not a reason to keep him on the list to cover our key defender deficiency, because he just isn't one.

That is just flat out wrong.

Can’t believe we aren’t interested. People can argue all they like about his attitude

We are crying out for 1- a chf and 2- key position depth.

Well the wording from Twomey and Beveridge was:

"The Hawks' offer is understood to be strongest of the chasing clubs at four years, with the Roos' interest not at that level."

It'll be interesting to see what the Hawks pay for him in terms of draft capital.

If they paid any more than a third rounder I think it'd be difficult to justify matching.

No way they would accept that...
I know.

JUH has the 20th worst DE in the comp. He has kicked at 50% for goal for the last two years but is ranked in the top 50 for contested marks in the comp in 2023. (In comparison Cooper Harvey is ranked 4th for contested marks this year and about 150 places higher for DE, just above that Dylan Stevens chap we are chasing.)

I don't think he's worth what the Dogs would want for him.

There was one player he was on who he flogged. i just can't remember who it was. lol. Then he got injured again.

This is why we need to bring in Darling. We can't have Chom learning to play defence in one-on-ones versus Larkey. Darling can be the pre-season mobile cannon fodder.

mmm, well I'm not sure the circumstances surrounding Maj influence the point I'm making - Brad Scott was allowed a second attempt at a "top up" strategy, which - with Polec, Hall, Pittard and Tyson - was a whole lot less successful than the first iteration (with Waite, del Santo, Higgins).

From a governance point of view, I'm always 'once bitten, twice shy', and a strong board would have gone with a fresh face and a different, draft-based approach

Anyway, doesn't matter now - as you say, we are where we are
I think his second shot fell apart due to circumstances beyond his control. But then when it was a shitshow, going to the board to start again wasn't the smartest move. He was gone less than half a season after the second top up.

The first one worked and you could argue he deserved a second shot off the back of it. In some ways we are still seeing the benefits of the first one because I think Higgo had a great influence on Jy and LDU. Possibly w80 was good for Larkey as well. I remember one of W8s comments when he retired was just how good he thought Larkey would be. He was right about that.
