Strange game. The first half was scintillating. The second half pretty bad.

King looked unstoppable in the first half but then spent most of the second half giving away cheap free kicks. It's a part of his game I don't like, love that he plays hard and on the edge but hopefully he got the undisciplined stuff out of his system today.

I thought Pou was much improved in that first half. We know he can do the flashy stuff but as a mid he needs to work on just getting his hands on the ball, which he did. Really promising signs I thought, such a shame he sat out the second half hope it's nothing serious.

Wilson looks a gun player. Can't wait to watch him this year. Looks like our most AFL-ready kid in a long time.
Arie has something too. Will become a gun player for us.
Henry looks like he'll be a brilliant pick up. Silky, loves a goal, good hands.
Dougs a big loss but with Cordy to come in we'll be ok.
Higgins' kicking will give us a few grey hairs.

Obviously with some troops back it will be a better side. There was heat in the game which is probably a good thing going into round one. I'm a bit worried about missing Butler and which smalls are going to impact for us.

Anyway, bring on the season.

Unfortunately, they just don’t mean enough

Great to have footy back, the mouth breathers that were hibernating for 6 months have come back out of the woodwork to indirectly demonstrate how intelligent we all are.

If not for our board lifting the average IQ of this website up about 100 points, this place would surely have to be investigated and shutdown or at least analysed so the same travesty (mouth breathers having the right to use the internet) never happens again ffs

He was excellent today and good on him... But c'mon if he's in our I side mid rotation I don't think it says much for our list
Goddard said he was the guy that looked like the most improved player in preseason , at 22 he still can be anything considering at lot of these kids don't hit there straps until they are about 24 , like Parish , Petracca etc.
I would not under value Byrne because by the looks he is one of the hardest workers on the track and by the looks it is paying off.

Have you seen what damage CTE is causing and will cause contact sports insurance ? They have to be seen as acting. Ipso facto many weeks.
Thanks for dropping by Tarryn all the best with your dating for 2024 and perhaps take Clarko with you. I’ve heard he has great advice for players wives that get pregnant leading up to finals👍

At least be funny
I mean, bless him/her/them… imagine crying into the utter irrelevant wilderness that is supporting Greatest Waste of Space?

Take a look at this bloke Dard Ball Get he's on a tear, ripped out the ipso facto, have a load of that he says!

we all know it is wrong and he will pay the price , but wiping him off for 8 weeks for a brain fade when guys get less for striking is a joke.

Nothing would surprise me with the AFL MRP/Tribunal lottery these days, they are an inconsistent joke.

Sicily got 3 weeks for a tackle last year while Maynard got off scot free for leaping off his feet and putting his shoulder into Brayshaw's head.

The tribunal said that Sicily didn't show a duty of care for his tackle while no duty of care applied to Maynard for his flying shoulder charge.

They just make the rules up to suit themselves and certain players or clubs.

This by virtue of the fact that he plays for your mob ? What a ludicrous assertion. Stop trying to justify an appalling act. He needs to get 12. It was deliberate and intended.
You are carrying on like he is assaulting women, or banging the captains wife or having a racist coach who gets indigenous players girlfriends to have an abortion.

Get a grip, we all aren't in the moral sewer where you smooth brained throwbacks live.

A lot of the media hype this up as well, which would influence the tribunal.

I just saw a news report where they said that Webster could get up to 8 weeks which is 1 week more than Hall got for his king hit on Staker.

I can understand North supporters overreacting but it seems like some of the media are too, it should be a 3 or 4 week suspension at most.
David King said 10 (of course he would.)

If I were you, I would rethink that post. CTE is not in any way a laughing matter.

In my view CTE poses a huge threat to our game.

Just this week we have seen Angus Brayshaw retiring due to the damage he has suffered from a number of concussions. You should be well aware that last year Paddy McCartin, who had so much ability, but was never able to properly display it due to his concussion issues, was forced to retire. Others forced out of the game recently through concussion include Paul Seedsman, Marcus Adams, Max Lynch, Liam Picken and of course, Shane Tuck's suicide is linked to brain injury from too many concussions.

This is the third significant head injury that Jy Simpkin has copped in the last 12 months and I suspect that we might now see him sidelined for several weeks. It's not too big a stretch to think that if he cops another one this year, he too might be looking at retirement.

I don't think that Jimmy Webster would have ever imagined that he was going to collect Simpkin in the way he did. I've watched enough of him over the years to not see him as a thug. But unfortunately today he had a monumental brain fade in leaving the ground, turning partially side on and tucking his elbow in to collect Simpkin to the head and with a fair amount of force. From the TV footage there is no question that Jy was quite significantly dazed, if not concussed.

That is exactly the sort of act that the AFL cannot allow to continue in the game and irrespective of Webster's past record, he has to cop a quite significant penalty, in the order of 6 weeks or more. (If for no other reason, bumps of the nature we saw today, have to disappear from the game, because of the fears so many parents have about their children playing the game and in some instances they are encouraging their children to look at playing other non-contact sports.)

There are already some quite significant legal actions against the AFL because of CTE/Concussion damage, and there are likely to be many more in the years ahead.

Leaving aside for just one moment the likelihood that many players already are/will not enjoy the best of health post their AFL careers, which is quite simply a terrible outcome for them, the financial cost to the game of any successful legal actions, may lead the AFL to decide to reduce or even ban some forms of physical contact. You might say that will never happen, but who knows what lies ahead in an increasingly litigious world.
No way am I reading all that champ x

And if you were me, you’d have no f*cking idea what to do with yourself 😎
