Do you think he has the tank? Serious question.
I don’t follow training or gps stats closely enough to know, however without an alternative tall defender any positional move of significant duration is unlikely before an offseason. A preseason would give the best chance of any move working.

If it’s true that Bont is frustrated at the Dogs and could leave at the end of his contract, surely we start getting into his ear.
I’m expecting that place to have a shock trade.

AFL needs a more exciting trade period after last year’s flop, hence why they want to free up movement.

Bailey Smith wants to be in Black and White next year,, if we're willing to find the way to make it happen.

This isn't based on his trip to the States with Nick.

Is Bailey Smith comes to the Pies is he best in the middle or on a wing?

See comment above… talking by the end of 2026 not make it happen this year
Sure we don’t know where we will finish the 2026 season but I would think it’s more likely we will be toward the bottom in a rebuilding phase and could be holding pick 2

These days players nominate their destination and clubs can only use what they have and it usually gets done
If we hold pick 10 plus F1 and throw in a 2nd it would likely get done

On that timeline you have us bottoming-out just as Tassie are in recruitment ramp-up phase with massive under-age and draft-pick concessions, plus preferential access to free-agent players.

2026 to 2030 will be the worst possible time to be near the bottom of the ladder.

If we finish bottom 2 in '26 and we can offer pick 2 and a player for Reid as in the Judd trade
We won't finish bottom 2 in 26. We'll transition through the retirements without too much trouble, as we'll still have a strong core and are good at adding recruits.

Apparently Holmes wants to stay at the Cats.
OOC at years end.

if Geelong are happy to hold-off to see what his form is like then surely you fire a shot across the bow and offer him some decent coin with 4-5+ yrs

there's no downside ..getting Geelong to pay more $$$ and/or unsettling one of their younger & better players

worst case scenario, he gets a whiff of the B'W carrot and agrees to see out the year AND ...

They all say that. Easiest media gig in the world.

Speculate on player's future by claiming "links" (team with capital, connection and/or need/interest).

Write article.

Rumours start to emerge.

Ask player about future. Player says they re-commit.

Write new article.

Rinse and repeat.

With the roos looking like a basket case, it’s only a matter of time before players start looking to get out, we should be circling like vultures. Wardlaw would look good in black and white.
A cheaper one I like is Comben.

Bailey Smith is a must for me. It would be shrewd of the pies to buy Nick a pony to make it easier to keep him in the future when the big offers start rolling in.
