The other angle from behind showed the ball appeared clearly on top of the line when DBJ first got hands on it and it was a good decision. Richo was full of praise for the umpire, then it was never shown again.

This really needs to be stressed, West Coast didn't have insane hometown umpiring. They had insane umpiring period. Opponents would be smashed by the umpires in Perth, but they'd never cop the reversal when on the road.

Some guy did an analysis on umpiring bias, looking at extremely lopsided free kick counts.

One of the categories was Victorian side vs Non-Vic side played in Melbourne. The amount of lopsided free kicks to the away side was actually pretty close to the ones paid to the Victorian side. The same occured for Non-Vic vs Vic games.

But with the former, if you excluded West Coast, you ended up with a massive gap. A large amount of Non-Vic favourable games are removed and hardly any Vic favourable games are removed.

I think you are talking about The Arc's 2016 analysis. I thought he did another post with a table of the plus and minuses by years, before he finished up in 2020, can't find it, so it might have been by someone else.
