You keep avoiding my point of cost especially trade cost. Lake didn't cost us much in trade value and neither did Frawley. If we are prepared to spend what the Eagles are going to ask for in trade value I'd much prefer to actively search for the perfect player (not wait for one to materialise) and spend the trade value on them.
If Hawthorn get him to nominate them it'll get done, it always does. We arent a club that gets a player to go out on a limb like that and then not get it done.

This feeling out process now will include the agent getting as much intel as possible about what West Coast would likely want too in this market and then getting back to Hawthorn about the expected asking price. He isnt going to ask his client to nominate a club he knows isnt going to be willing to put up the assets to get the trade done

Barrass has some of the worst 1-on-1 defensive loss rate.

He looks good being able to drop off when it’s coming in long. Will struggle when it’s coming in quick or when he has to lockdown his man.
Not saying this is wrong, but I’d be interested to know what his stats were like when they were up and about playing finals compared to the last couple of years. The ball pretty much lives in the Eagles defence ( last few years) and it would get tiring defending all the time!

I'm not avoiding anything. If it costs our first and a second it's a pick in the teens and a pick in the 30s, we're currently doing pretty well with two sub 10 picks running around in the VFL. I'm perfectly okay with that. West Coast can want 2 firsts but it doesn't mean they'll get it.

Serong wouldn’t want out, but I remember when Hawthorn tried to get Chris Scott out of Brisbane when we had Brad Scott and tried to get the brothers to play together, but Brad went to Brisbane, could we try to do the same again with the Serong brothers.

That’s because John was an abusive hack whose songs are some horrifically overrated trash.

‘So this is Christmas, and what have you done?’

I dunno mate, but I certainly didn’t punch my wife or abandon my child so spare me the judgement you hypocritical flog.
Post of the year right here. I can't say how much I love this. Made my night. Kudos sir.

Yeah. I'd prefer to use our 1st together with other trade collateral to do everything we can to prise mid 20yo pre-agents of the calibre of Andrews, Weitering, Ballard etc

But I can understand differing opinions

Some low to mid 20’s from 2018 to 2021. Which is pretty good. Would likely correlate with eagles controlling the ball a lot more in those years.

Interestingly his better numbers seem to correlate with less games played where the higher he gets to 19 games the higher the defensive loss % goes.

It’s just whether at 29 he can get to the form he showed 4 years ago come 2025.

Apart from the pies, the blues and Dee's are waiting with what happens with Conor Nash. They're starting to line up.

You’d think there’s zero probability of Nash leaving. Huge investment by the club and the player.

Surely if we’re splashing cash for half decent free agents we would pay one of our most important players what he is worth first.

Serong looks like a midfield engine type.
Easily would become our most prolific mid.

Question is: how would that change our current set up?
I like that Newcombe is being pushed to FF a bit more in the rotation, and he's quite potent there.
Day could play anywhere.
Nash, less versatile tbh, same with Worpel, who is most similar to Serong.

Top player, but is he what we need ahead of...Callahan, as an example of a more dynamic/attacking player.
