It's rarely a single pick that gets these types of deals done and from what I've heard, we prefer to hold a position in the 1st round of the draft


So, only way I'd consider pick 11, is based on the likelihood of trading back into the 1st round

Personally, I think Houston's overall value is a late 1st

Hopefully Power think the same.

If this draft is as good as fabled, it’s worth more than normal.

After yesterday Sydney may have a surplus of the soundtrack chair. Easy to fold and can be taken anywhere with minimum fuss.

The thing is, we can trade in as many great players as humanly possible and it doesn’t guarantee a premiership.

Of course the club would think our time is now like many other clubs, but we need to continue to keep bringing in quality youth. Some it may take a few years to click or some they might just work overnight.

Looking at Brisbane yesterday they played:

Lohmann 21
Fletcher 20
Morris 19

They trusted their youth and all 4 played really good games.

We MUST continue to go down the draft track imo and if a very good player drops to us, then of course we take a chance re trade. But to go all in and trade our picks away on 1 or 2 players wouldn’t be the sensible option.

It depends on who is rolling the dice.

I trust Austin a lot more than list managers in years gone by, but he also inherited a lot of issues with the list, which at this stage of our '2nd rebuild' is even riskier to trust to develop in the long term given that we haven't had any success for so long.

Normally I say draft, but i think our window is a lot smaller given the evenness of the comp, and the fact that teams like Hawthorn have developed a LOT faster than us.

Indeed, we (and others) have bagged a few bargains in the last few years outside of the national draft. I'm not a believer in putting all your eggs in the draft basket.

They finished 5th after the H&A season. Neale and Cameron a year older. Daniher might retire. They had a good injury run again.

Dont get me wong. They were unreal yesterday. But we have seen much more dominant premiership sides. They probably start favourites but reckon they are gettable.

The 2 ashcrofts are a wildcard. Unbelievably big advantage to get both for chips while near the top of the ladder.

Good injury run? Lions were in bottom 3 with us and Tigers for games lost to injury. Bottom 5 for games lost by best 22 players.

This period, should be skewed heavily towards the draft. My opinion it is the best crop between 10 & 40 in years. A few moneyball picks -konstanty, Mcmahon? but play the % and take 5 (3+campos) in this draft. Leave expensive trades for another year.
