Bid for Levi comes in early

All those picks we gave Brisbane cease to exist

All our later picks come in further increasing their point value

Live trade them to Essendon for something nice when the Kako bid comes
one of a select few that seem to get it. this is a smart move by us. if you're looking at points values you're not seeing the forest for the trees.

we currently have the last pick of the night and the first of the second night. gives us a chance to nab a future first rounder if a club is desperate for a slider or just get the absolute best available ourselves.

Basically, means we know Rioli, Bolton & Baker trades will happen as we have more than 3 lists spots to fill.

Club has shown our hand early, Freo can still back and just say 10 & 18 that's it.

I can understand the 40's picks but giving pick 32 i don't understand, could have bundled that up with something else.

Lions would have said no and then dealt with someone else, whether now or in the future. Much better to lock in pick-20, where there’ll
be at least half a dozen players other clubs are clambering for, offering rivers of gold to get the pick in live trading.

Or pick-20 will be used to unlock Bolton or Rioli trade.

Patience grasshopper, patience.

Should not have given them 32. Give them rest of the junk picks adds up to 1567. More then enough.

We have all the power too, just threaten to bid ashcroft at 1.

What are we doing!?? We are so dumb now
Brisbane can't take any more picks than they have for open list spots to the draft. So for them to take our later picks would have meant more delistings.

We've extracted a 1st round pick early in the trade period, who knows where or how that pick will be used?

Looks like the Hawks are going to split 13 to a later 1st and an early 2nd as 13 is too high of a price to pay for Barrass when included with the Hawks F2, and the Hawks want to stay fairly high in this draft. Maybe 20 & 23 (part of the Rioli deal) could be used, would like to keep 24 as it's the 1st pick on the 2nd night.

Hahaha I mean obviously they didn’t jump at option two

The Lions wouldn’t have had the list space capacity to carry all those picks to draft night

Ok fair enough, so why give them pick 45? We gave them way too much considering we won't bid on Ashcroft at 1.

Club has taken the easy option.

Yeah, because Lions were obviously going to do a point swap if it didn’t include 32 … wake up!

Got to be joking. In this draft it gets a good player and can also be traded for a future 2nd.
But we traded it for a 1st with a bunch of junk

We wouldn’t be matching the value.

Picks 32, 42 & 43 are worth 1357 points. That’s 445 points more than pick 20. Plus a gentlemen’s agreement we don’t bid on Ashcroft worth an additional 400 points.

So why did we throw away 45 as well when it could be used to lure more out of the Rioli trade.

Because if you move Sharp and Robertson for later picks the amount of picks needed reduces.

So timing a factor (get ahead of any Sharp and Robertson move).

From Brisbane’s perspective, they’ll try and get as many points as they can to maximize its picks after the two bids, so they would always trade 20 for whomever can give them most points. Also any matched bid automatically wipes out its next pick, so it would want as many points AFTER the two bids but close as possible to it.

So if they need less points because of Sharp and Robertson and Richmond say here’s 1300 points of picks that’s all we are prepared to offer, that’s just inviting other teams to come in and be able to make a move to secure them ahead of Richmond.

32 is the premium to needed to get 20 at this point in time (ahead of Sharp and Robertson deals) and be the one thing that no other team would be prepared to offer for 20.
