To get 23 we are probably going to have to include our 2nd rounder next yr on top of next yrs first. Just take Noble and future 1st for 13 and get the best KPB or KPF that’s available
Except we can’t unless we trade another future second in to replace it.

Hawthorn is considering trading its no.14 draft pick for Carlton’s future first and second-round picks in a development that would turn the trade period on its head.
The Hawks are believed to feel they are being urged to pay too much for Eagles defender Tom Barrass and are keen to move on with a separate deal.

The Eagles want the Hawks No.14 pick and their future first-round pick but would give their future second round pick back.
Trading out pick 14 to Carlton would mean the only way the Hawks could get a Barrass deal done would be by the Hawks then using future picks.
They would have their own future first-rounder, the Carlton future first-rounder and the Carlton second-rounder.
That development would mean West Coast would not have the trade collateral for Liam Baker, who might end up being traded to Fremantle.

The Dockers could be prepared to pass on pick 10 or 11 to Richmond for Baker.
He is aware of the fact that the Eagles might not have the trade collateral to get that deal done, with Richmond not interested in a pick slide with the Eagles No.3 draft pick.

It would mean the Blues would suddenly have picks 12 and 14 and would be able to again get back into the race for Dan Houston.
They would need to offer pick 12 and a sweeter for Houston and would keep pick 14 to take to the national draft.
Collingwood has said it is only prepared to give up pick 13 and Joe Richards for Houston and would not hand over the No.23 pick if it secured that selection from the Suns in a trade for its future first rounder and John Noble.
So Carlton can get away with a single first round and a sweetener but Collingwood can't use a single first round pick and Richards as the sweetener. Do these journalists have rocks in their brains.

Our “sweetener” has been offered a 3 year deal by Port before all this happened. Dickheads just have their Carlton hats on non stop

The one missing piece of the puzzle for me is a statement saying that they'd be more than happy to get a deal done with Gold Coast independent of Houston coming, where we still pick up 13+23 for Noble+F1 (with probably a sweetener from us), and just hit the draft with those picks.

That's the last piece of the puzzle that would let me be relaxed about whether this happens or not, because I'd be happy with the backup option.

I don't see how anyone gets their hands on pick #13 before we do, given that we've got something Gold Coast actually wants.
Honestly at the end of the day even if we couldn’t get a deal done for Houston, if we managed to get 13+23 for our future first, Noble and the Hawks second, then traded 13 for 18+21 from Sydney, and managed to get 39 from Port for Richards, that’s still an exceptional outcome.

Ehhh yes and no. I'm at the stage where missing out on Houston, when he was in our reach, would be a disaster.

Unless we got Petracca 😂
