A pick that high would have made it clear in club interviews if was concerned coming west. I think the club would be well aware he’s good to go if they do get a chance to pick him at 12

No doubt in my mind that one or two of the blokes we all want to slide will slide and we will overlook them or trade back - see Matt Johnson for example off the top of my head. Also Hobbs.

FWIW, I think it was reported in The Age that Richmond are very reluctant to part with pick 6, and apparently they really like Smillie there, so if anyone is going to trade up to 2 it’s probably going to be St Kilda.

Talk on our board that it would be for our future first and one of 7 or 8.
This is apparently the direct quote from the article in The Age.

Not sure if they mentioned Smillie in that article, but I’ve read that he’s the one they’re really keen on at 6, which is why they don’t want to move that pick to get up to 2.

And their later picks would be too late to be of interest to North, who would presumably only trade back to a point they’re sure they’d get Tarau at.

Lol. Sheezel's performances surged pretty early in 2022, and by mid-season when he started moving into the middle he put in performances such as: 28 disposals and 6 goals; 37 disposals; 33 and 3 goals; 22 and 4 goals.

It was very obvious he was elite and would be able to play anywhere.

Play anywhere.......but not for an interstate club. :thumbsu:

Why bring uo Sheezel at all, he didnt want to leave Victoria.

Given the talk that Melbourne and St Kilda are very interested in Bo, if we did happen to do that trade with North (say pick 7 and our future 1st, for 2 and change), and they took Tauru at 7, and 6 “mids” (plus Ashcroft) had been taken prior to that, do you think you guys might try to trade up from 12 to 8, to ensure you could get Bo?

Either so we wouldn’t take him at 8, or Melbourne wouldn’t take him at 9?

Tarau will be there at 10.

So10 and 18.

Richmond keep 6.

Take it or leave it North. Thats how Id be playing my cards if I was the Tigers. Possibly throw in a 2nd if they were really keen. Two 1sts and a 2nd for pick 2 seems overs.

Well I can assure you that basically no WCE fan here would be happy about trading upto 8 and taking Allan. God knows what the club is thinking though. Nothing suprises me now.

I think we would ask the question, but really depends what the cost is

Saints and Dees with multiple picks before 10, likely both take at least 1 tall.
Armstrong and Tauru are the 2 best talls in the draft.

I wouldnt be putting money in Tauru still being there at 10

Id be wanting 6 or 7 if I was north, doesnt matter what else comes with it, anything is a bonus

Pretty sure guys like Twomey think there’s enough interest in Tarau from multiple clubs that he wouldn’t make it to 10.

If we’ve gone with someone who plays midfield with our first pick we could easily go in a different direction with our next one.

And Tarau would presumably be an ideal Battle replacement obviously.

Wouldn’t put it past Melbourne to grab him at 9, either. May 33yo next year and Lever 29.

What’s the general knock on him? 191cm versatile competitive beasts who are explosive and athletic don’t grow on trees. Especially if they also have leadership abilities.

We're not that into him.

Not what we desperately need. We have such a history with big bodied HBFcouldbemidfieldersbutmaybenot that we want and need some desperately pure midfield class.

Trading down has made that task harder, but not impossible.

Fair enough. Too Ginbey-like. We’ve done plenty of similar things in the last 15 years. Hence our midfield being so weak right now.

You might try to move up to 7 or 8 to get a midfield slider in that case then. I reckon we might be open to it if we’ve gotten one with our first pick.

I think we’d be very interested in someone like Lindsay at 12. Even Bo there. Or maybe a Whitlock.
