How good is his turn and burn. He can be running full tilt away from our goals and has the agility and power to turn not only his pursuer inside out but then power away from the next line of oppo [emoji7]
Will Day’s biggest fan here, always great to see him notch another injury free game. Only 9 touches, playing a less aggressive role down back. Seems to have lost some confidence in his kicking. Do we write this season off given his ankle issues?
With Reeves healthy we are winning some of these games.
Does getting smashed in clearance week after week hinder our overall development, accelerate it or make no difference?
And Will Day notches another game. One step closer to greatness. Was a bit wobbly by foot this week but I’m confident he will unleash next week with CJ back in the team. Watch out Bombres…
Yep I thought the same from the injury report video and in the Callow Call Up Vid he went in with the awkward single arm hug, injured arm hanging limply by his side. Says to me he is still sore and several weeks away at best.
Gunston looks not to have the wheels any longer to play 2nd forward. Much better suited to 3rd forward role. Get Callow in ASAP!
I am in the Finn Maginness stays in camp. I agree that was his best game yet. His kicking mechanics look sound. He is just lacking confidence and will get there with...
So happy that some of the players who struggled with fumbles and errors in the second and third (Cmac, Morrison, DGB) all had some really important moments in the last.
The growth in matches like this is the reason why we won’t be rebuilding for long.
Also love Ward’s balance and composure...
Will Hawks HQ be up to their old tricks and keep DGB’s suspected ankle injury under wraps all week?
Would also love to hear if Day has been given the all clear.
Granted that he did work his way into the match but did anyone else think that Howe
looked like he was stuck playing 2021 Hawks Footy for most of today?
Loved Reeves tackling and second efforts at the contest.
Moore our best player when the game was there to be won.
Maginess week on week improvement is heartening.
Already mentioned but the Breust/Gunston partnership just warms the heart.
Go Hawkies!!!
Loved the variety with the CBA’s and big Noodles competitiveness.
How good was the Newk!!!
Do they persist with Maginess behind the ball? His disposal was sketchy.
A brief training report from an untrained eye for today’s Family day session.
Spirits very high which seem to be a common theme on this Pre season thread.
I thought skills were a bit sloppy given the perfect conditions today.
Players who stood out to me -
Sicily who has absolutely bulked...
Lewis was better in the GF but still looks like he is carrying maybe a shoulder injury? Hope he comes back bigger and better after what I think was a sub par year for him.
Can anyone confirm if any Tailgating BBQ permits have been issued or has it been flat out banned? Does anyone know if you are allowed to BYO to have a beer in the carpark still?
With the Car park only letting in approx 1000 cars due to the "Foxtel Footy Festival" our now annual BBQ brekky n beers in the car park is under threat. Does anyone have any other good suggestions/locations for soaking up the atmosphere pre game...
Agreed and Lewis likewise. Seems every time Lewis has a chance to win a contested ball he is inclined to toe poke it out or try to handball through traffic with no effect. Taking the heat first and then offloading used to be his go.
Following a team who clearly put the "team first" ethos far ahead of personal glory and individual performance is soooo satisfying. To win as underdogs makes it even more incredible. The parallels with the 2014 NBA finals teams - Spurs v Heat is amazing. So proud right now.
