Game Day Round 18, 2022: Hawthorn v West Coast Eagles, 1.10pm @ MCG

Feel like we’ve been beaten in the air and missing Kozi. Tried to play dry weather footy in slippery conditions. Uninspiring quarter that one.

Game Day Round 18, 2022: Hawthorn v West Coast Eagles, 1.10pm @ MCG

Our intensity in the middle has been lacking.

Player Watch Welcome to Hawthorn : Jai “Duke” Newcombe - 2024 Peter Crimmins medalist

How good is his turn and burn. He can be running full tilt away from our goals and has the agility and power to turn not only his pursuer inside out but then power away from the next line of oppo [emoji7]

Autopsy Round 13, 2022: Dockers breakdown the Hawks

Will Day’s biggest fan here, always great to see him notch another injury free game. Only 9 touches, playing a less aggressive role down back. Seems to have lost some confidence in his kicking. Do we write this season off given his ankle issues?

Autopsy Round 9, 2022: Hawks chewed on by Tigers

With Reeves healthy we are winning some of these games. Does getting smashed in clearance week after week hinder our overall development, accelerate it or make no difference?

Autopsy Round 7, 2022: Hawks fail against Dees

And Will Day notches another game. One step closer to greatness. Was a bit wobbly by foot this week but I’m confident he will unleash next week with CJ back in the team. Watch out Bombres…

    Preview Round 8, 2022: Essendon v Hawthorn 7:25pm May 7th, Marvel Stadium

Yep I thought the same from the injury report video and in the Callow Call Up Vid he went in with the awkward single arm hug, injured arm hanging limply by his side. Says to me he is still sore and several weeks away at best.

Autopsy Round 6, 2022: Hawks fall over against Swans

Gunston looks not to have the wheels any longer to play 2nd forward. Much better suited to 3rd forward role. Get Callow in ASAP! I am in the Finn Maginness stays in camp. I agree that was his best game yet. His kicking mechanics look sound. He is just lacking confidence and will get there with...

Autopsy Round 5, 2022: Hawks skin the Cats

Not sure anyone would choose that (valid) option. Take the open goal would be my first choice every time. Interesting take though.

Autopsy Round 5, 2022: Hawks skin the Cats

So happy that some of the players who struggled with fumbles and errors in the second and third (Cmac, Morrison, DGB) all had some really important moments in the last. The growth in matches like this is the reason why we won’t be rebuilding for long. Also love Ward’s balance and composure...

    Injury HFC Injury watch 2022

Will Hawks HQ be up to their old tricks and keep DGB’s suspected ankle injury under wraps all week? Would also love to hear if Day has been given the all clear.

Autopsy Round 3, 2022: Hawks go down to the Blues

Granted that he did work his way into the match but did anyone else think that Howe looked like he was stuck playing 2021 Hawks Footy for most of today?

Welcome Welcome to Hawthorn: Josh Ward. Extends to 2025!

Another vote here for Ben Cousins Mk2 (on field exploits only)

Autopsy Round 2, 2022: Hawks disconnect the power

Loved Reeves tackling and second efforts at the contest. Moore our best player when the game was there to be won. Maginess week on week improvement is heartening. Already mentioned but the Breust/Gunston partnership just warms the heart. Go Hawkies!!!

    Preview Round 2, 2022: Port v Hawthorn, AO 7.40pm, Saturday 26th March

Only to protect Macdonald/Ward from the big bodies of the Port midfield I would’ve thought. Maginness hopefully plays too.

Autopsy Round 1, 2022: Hawks skin the Roos

Loved the variety with the CBA’s and big Noodles competitiveness. How good was the Newk!!! Do they persist with Maginess behind the ball? His disposal was sketchy.

Training Summer Footy Fix - 2022 training watch

A brief training report from an untrained eye for today’s Family day session. Spirits very high which seem to be a common theme on this Pre season thread. I thought skills were a bit sloppy given the perfect conditions today. Players who stood out to me - Sicily who has absolutely bulked...

Lewis was better in the GF but still looks like he is carrying maybe a shoulder injury? Hope he comes back bigger and better after what I think was a sub par year for him.

    Pre GF brekky options

    Pre GF brekky options

Need a big game from Roughy, Taz and Hill

Agreed and Lewis likewise. Seems every time Lewis has a chance to win a contested ball he is inclined to toe poke it out or try to handball through traffic with no effect. Taking the heat first and then offloading used to be his go.

Autopsy Hawks vs Dockers - We bested the west!

Shoe is super important and I hope he gets a game. Worried about Lewis' inability to take the heat in a contest. Mitch, Chip and Doc were superb

All the nice little things about winning the 2014 Premiership

Following a team who clearly put the "team first" ethos far ahead of personal glory and individual performance is soooo satisfying. To win as underdogs makes it even more incredible. The parallels with the 2014 NBA finals teams - Spurs v Heat is amazing. So proud right now.
