Autopsy Round 5, 2022: Hawks skin the Cats

Probably just want more from our acting captain. He doesn't have to get 30 touches every game, but he has to make some impact. So far after 5 rounds he hasn't. He had 1 tackle in game where the focus all week has been about having more aggression, more desire. He is being saved by being captain. If he wasn't then he would have been dropped.

Sicily spoke about “flattening the hierarchy” so I doubt your theory on him only being in the team because he is acting captain has any substance whatsoever

Post match interview 5:45

Just a snippet that I absolutely loved

"We were shitehouse at the start and shiteouse at the end." - Duckwood.

Hodgey hardly had a good word to say about us

On SM-G973F using BigFooty.com mobile app

We will always love Hodge ball but TBH since he was “retired” by Clarko there is not a doubt in my mind he has some serious sour grapes in his mouth about the Hawks .

Always commentates as if he is on the end of a 3 day bender and struggles to get the words out. Today he waffled about Gunston showing some form again and then took him about a qtr to realise he only played 1 game last season. 🤦‍♂️

Cmon Hodgey, get on board son.

So what was he doing for the first 3 quarters then? Bugger all obviously.

Stewart still had 6 touches and 3 intercept possessions in the last, so wasn't like he took him right out. Sorry you're not gonna convince me he deserves a spot after 5 pretty ordinary games, so we'll leave it at that. Plenty of players in the vfl who'd sacrifice their game to just be a defensive forward.... and probably do it better.
Good luck at match committee then. You’d be laughed out of the room with that opinion. 🤣🤣🤣

Sams pressers are always a good listen, gives some real interesting detail.

The part where he goes to Sicily for his game information and onground assesments and instruction of the game is pretty telling of how important he is to the team. To have Gunston and Sicily now at either ends with such a high footy IQ is making such a massive difference.

Does anyone know why Mitch Lewis didn't just mark the ball and then go back and use 30 seconds to take his kick?
30 seconds and possibly fluff the goal (very unlikely) vs take 5 seconds off the clock and basically guarantee to seal the game.

Just the classic over compensating to not look biased towards your old club shtick. Many former players overshoot it in an attempt to not lose credibility.

Not as funny as praising a guy who did some good 1% in a quarter and f$%k all for the rest.

Seriously, you're acting like we should chair the guy off for winning us the game. He wasn't that good.

Anyway great win. Nice chats

Probably being a bit harsh, but just want more from him and don't think that's unreasonable after the first 5 rounds.

True but he and his family are all so entrenched in the Brisbane footy club these days who knows. Hope we get him back eventually.

Did anyone else spot the three-grabber by Lewis on the wing during the second half? I could have sworn it was a mark but didn't get a second look. (Edit: The clever, clever umpire called play on. I greatly respect the umpires.)

The kid keeps on keeping on at the contest now. Who would have thought given the way his attitude was being discussed last year.

The best part about today that will absolutely pi55 the cats players off, is they are a team on the edge of the cliff supposedly in the premiership window having one last crack, while we are a team who is predicted to be bottom two according to the experts.

That interview with Selwood on K Rock and watching Scott on the tv tonight has been very enjoyable .

So sweet today!

bad decision choosing Geelong

had the choice to go to Melbourne win another flag and be applauded by the Hawks

you don't choose to go to Geelong or Essendon if you are a Hawthorn player of note, without consequences ...there's 15 other clubs to choose from
It’s not like old days. Players don’t feel the rivalries like supporters do anymore, they’re all mates, and in Smiths case, the best deal one. The bonus land package as a sweetener helps…

Isaac being tackled and thrown to the ground by Moore was a highlight of the day.

He more than anyone would of felt the rivalry against these campaigners as he missed 2 goals (one in a final) that cost us the bloody game .
