Lets be pragmatic here. At the end of the day, Hawthorn Footy Club lives on.
Whilst i dont understand the trade with Saints, it obviously done to obtain JOM.
Be proud that our club values our players as people and not assets. Our success is uncompared both on and off the field.
Suns are...
The rationale of Lewis/Mitchell i can understand. Tugs at the heart strings, but good buisness for all parties.
The Tom Mitchell trade was a win in my eyes.
In that respect, we've done well... but in isolation the trade with St Kilda is concerning.
That may all change and we trade in JOM or...
And will be exacerbated even more if we can not get him.
Understand the clubs decisions with Mitchell/Lewis, but the all out pursuit of JOM may set us back in the short/medium term.
A big 48 hours for us coming up.
With the loss of Mitchell/Lewis/Hill and if we miss out on JOM, will we need to renegotiate some contracts to front end them as we need to pay 95% of the cap as per AFL rules?
(Estimate only) Lewis 500, Mitchell 600, JOM 600 is 1.7 million we have not spent...
This is of course if nobody else...
Honestly, can not see what Hawks can give with 10 for him to satisfy Suns.
I think our only hope is if he makes 10 in the national draft.
The trade with St Kilda, in isolation, looks pretty horrendous right now...
If Stratton didn't go down with injury, it was his to lose.
Cyril or Sammy. If we held it 2 weeks later, Graham Wright would of been a chance as well (if what we want to happen, happens).
Interested in thoughts of where his best position is.
Half Back, Wing/Midfield or Half Forward?
Such a versatile player could easily do all, but where is he best suited?
Great point. 2016 Brand isn't waht we need but with time 2016/17/18 Brand may develop into exactly what we need.
I believe his market value is less then what his value to us is.
Surely the Suns will be on the phone to what Hawks player/s they want?
It's not a matter of Hawthorn pushing them out to facilitate the trade.
Going to be an interesting trade period to see if gets done.
I am a Hawks man living in Brisbane and a Lions member attending each home game to get my live footy fix.
Selfishly i would love for you to get Casboult as he is what makes Footy exciting. The big contested mark like an old fashioned forward and the big long goals. Something that may appeal to...
Unless players need a 'mental' break to freshen up, we need players like Hill, Rough, Birchall etc to get some confidence over the next 2 weeks.
All about our versatility, but in finals we are going to need a tall forward to draw the footy and we used to have a coleman medalist to do that...
Whilst i would love to see the Hawks play up here in Brisbane again, since our last Gabba game we have won 3 flags... Any stupid little superstition to keep the dream alive!!
Happy to travel to the Gold Coast...
Start of the season, i really didn't miss him too much and was quite happy with how everything had turned out. Swans were playing crap and we were simply awesome.
But now with all our injuries and the big Bud showing some very good form, real determination and focus, it is starting to hurt that...
Whilst being a Hawks supporter, I am also a lover of football. As such I have been a Lions member for the past 5 years to get my fix of live football. If it’s not the Hawks playing them I always support the Lions.
I have lived my life on the northside and my wife comes from the Western...
Pardon my intrusion, just have a quick question for you Suns experts.
Being a QLD'er i see alot of Lions/Suns and do enjoy keeping an eye over them. But anyway to my question.
Sam Day. Where do you see him playing his best football? As a forward he sometimes looked a bit lost and didn't...
Grew up loving Dr Who, 530pm every weekday on the ABC after school. Tom Baker my obvious favorite.
I have really enjoyed the new series and it is fun to watch. Agree that David Tennant a standout so far, but Matt Smith has really grown into the role.
The 50th special was brilliant. It was...
For those parents talking to their kids, please tell the tale of the legend known as "Dunstall". A man who gave up a 10 year deal to return home, only to stay loyal to his beloved football club. A man who is still involved today and has been instrumental in our 2008 and 2013 premierships.
That...
He has a chance to really leave a legacy in the next 2 games before he leaves if that is his choice.
This guy is Buddy Franklin and he can tear any game apart, but hasn't done in often enough lately for my liking.
Give us 2 of your best Buddy and make me think Damn.. we will never see that...
I have my own implanted cardiac defib. Its set to shock if beats reach a certain level. Please Hawks, win and win well, for my own well being. Because if you dont, will be very painful for me...
Whilst i understand the need for growth and that the move to Springfield is to an upcoming area, but do you think it may be playing a part in players wanting to leave?
With the city of Brisbane and its innercity suburbs like the New Farm area are very appealling to the young adult male, just...
Have to disagree with those saying he is overrated. Apart from skill, he has shown great leadership and courage which you could see his team mates play better just with his presence on the field.
And umpires pet? Please...... One of a handful of players who doesn't sook when manhandled by...
Loved every minute of it. From my point of view, enjoyed watching him play football the way i wanted it to be played. Others can comment on his standing in the game, but for me at his best made watching football awesome.
Still though hope its not over just yet, wanna see him kick a goal at the...
How about we leave Buddy and Cyril in the forward 50 and instead of kicking it in the air we just kick it along the ground to them in the one on ones.
Geelong never mark the ball and when they grab possession they dont have anytime to set up and we just pressure them full on.
The old 'chaos'...
When he is on, he is unstoppable but when he is off he can be putrid.
He really needs to bridge the gap from his best to his worst. The media are going to have a good week with this.
Will be interesting to see over the next few weeks, if he is suspended, what life after Buddy would look like...
Showed so much improvement to start the year off and was really excited to.see how far he would come this year. Honestly, feeling very flat about this.
